3 Dec Go to SF. "A turn-off there by name of Be^njamin Brown,
wants a 3d privilege; has been to Canterbury, lived in
Boston some years, etc."
5 Dec Ministry all spend the day at SF. Have 22 males & 22
females now. "We found peace among t&& Elders & family
all, a much Improved condition, spiritually."
8 Dec Meet with C. Copley about management of the farm.
9 Dec Propose for Daniel Sherman to take charge of the farm.
12 (Sun) Ministry spend day at CF. After meeting consult with Elders
"about general ope/ning, union meetings, and management of
the youth. Daniel Sherman can only attend meetings on
Sabbath.
13 Dec Elder Daniel & sisters go to WF. Giles laid up with cold,
aches & fever. Elder Issachar died last night; been sick
and demented some weeks.
19 Dec (Sun)General opening. "Some giftj but far short of the needed
work for Zion. A spiritual apathy rules & clouds of darkness
hang over our Zion heavily."
21 Dec WF and SF elders visit the Ministry. "A very general want
of conviction for sin appears to prevail In society. New-
comers but very little conviction for sin indeed, not enough
to make much of any confession."
23 Dec C. Miller applies for releasement from his Trusteeship.
"With some people It is 'rule or ruin.'"
24 Dec Talk with Nehemiah this evening about his duties as a Christ
tian brother & a family deacon.
25 Xmas Spend day at CF. Some good meetings for this family, "who
are generally dull in spiritual conditions. Some new songs
are given & some very good spiritual gifts but not enough
for protection." Almira Watkins died.
26 (Sun) Talked with Elders & Deacons of Society about beard ques-
tion. They generally oppose wearing beards at all.
27 Dec Giles speaks to Elder & Deacons of SF and WF about contri-
buting for the SHAKER. "It comes hard at WF."

28 Dec Ozias Turney gives Ministry a new lunch trunk. Elder Dan
& Giles go to NF to see Bro Albert Lornas "about his shop
room and the "Shaker" paper."

29 Dec Ministry return to Lebanon.
