8 Mar (NL) 2d Order put up first batch of Dr. A.J. White's
medicine, a branch we are just launching into, have spent
$2000 to fix up building, repair extract works , put in
new engine, new boiler, etc. to enlarge capacity for
working.
20 Mar Elder Daniel and two Eldresses- come to Wvlt by rail. Giles
stays behind to help unload sand 'being brought for building
new brick Ministry Shop at Lebanon, and other things.
Draw white sand from Tilden's Glass Works.
Elder Daniel gets back and most of his and Giles1 time is
spent working on their Shop -- drawing stone, laying up stone
foundation, supervising hired masons, carpenters, etc.

25 July Ministry come to Wvlt, enroute to all Western societies.

26 July CF harvesting oats, not yet done haying, about 50 tons to
cut yet.
28 July Ministry spend day at NF, "in labors with some disorderly
brethren there . "

29 July Spent all day at WF, "numerous burdens of a conflicting
nature thre. "

30 (Sun) "Immense concourse of people at public meeting." Albert
Lomas addresses them.

31 July "Abial's deed signed today, or, rather his last will."

1 Aug Ministry leave for Grovel and. "Spiritually, doing very
well."
7 Aug Asked to appoint an elder at West Family, "but we
cannot find the material needed."
8 Aug Left Groveland. Arrived North Union onyi 9th.
Their west Family has 4 brethren, 8 sisters ; East Family
has 9 males, 6 females.
15 'Aug Go to Whitewater and are taken on to Watervliet , 0.

17 Aug **feSr NF has only 2 brethren, 4 sisters, all aged. "This
family is wealthy, have a super abundance of all necessa-
ries & comforts of life. "
19 Aug Go on to Union Village. Visit SF, have 30 members .
23 Aug Go to 2d Family, have 6 males , 12 females , averaging
over 70 years , and 2 5-year old girls .
24 Aug Go to West or Gathering Family. Have 12 men, 20
females , "a really good lively gift . The Elders have ex-
cluded tobacco entire; all seems prosperous here. "
31 Aug Go to Whitewater. NF has 9 men, 12 sisters, , mostly
middle-aged. Appear to be getting along well .
4 Sept Visit SF, 4 men, 6 sisters .
5 Sept Leave Whitewater, get to Pleasant Hill on 6th.
7 Sept AT 1st Order, see ruins of their burned barns.
8 Sept Their East Family has 12 men, 20 women, "rather a
hard class for a family." Needs an Elder.
