6 Apr Giles goes to NF to labor there with Josiah Barker. To
WF in late afternoon to see B_j:o Jeremiah Lowe, William
Johnson & others.
10 Apr Gardeners setting out cabbage; farmers sowing oats, barley,
etc. & getting out manure.
Ministry speak to C. Miller about resuming the temporal
burdens of the CF., Had Philip Smithes report.
13 Apr "A time of great trial in CF because of a want of managers
of business." Have debts for hired men.
16 Apr Giles & some sisters taking up all the honey & wax as the
bees all have died. Have about \\s of honey & white
sugar mixed together, "makes a beautiful dip for pancakes."
19 Apr "Mill is all down and unfit, to say the least, to saw timber
or firewood."
21 Apr Elder Daniel & Giles, with Elder DAB, Stanton Buckingham,
& Philip Smith went to the New or Sand Farm, the McNaughton
Estate, to see the place.
22 (Sun) Society singing meeting to ascertain what short songs are
generally known by all the families suitable for public
meeting. We select^ed over 30.
Had talk in evening with Elders as to why may take Chauncy
Miller's place.
23 Apr Ministry & Elder DAB spend much time talking who was most
fit to take C. Miller's place. In p.m. ask Albert Lomas
and "he reluctantly consents, if no other way opens."
25 Apr Giles in morning talks with some brethren about Bro Albert
taking Chauncey's place.
26 Apr Giles patches plaster in dwelling house, also whitewashes.
28 Apr Giles goes to NF to see Josiah Barker "about some disorderly
books, novels, etc."
29 Apr After meetings, Ministry talk with C. Copley & Philip Smith
about trustee burden & who would better assist at Office.

30 Apr Ministry talk with C. Miller & he agrees to go back into
the Office.
1 May Ministry talk with Elder Galen at SF about Henry George
going to CF to help C. Miller,' taking the team that Jesse
Harwood used to drive. Then to NF to see Josiah Barker
about moving to SF to help in singing & to aid in manage-
ment of their farm.
4 May Go to NF & release Josiah from care of boys; to SF Elders
to release Henry George to go to CF.
