13 Jan (NL) Brethren meet after Sunday meeting "to consider the
color for brethrens' woolen coats & overcoats... The general
view favors a dark grey of blue mix, some prefer full indigo
blue, but it is considered this would be too costly."

of new dwelling house.)
30 Jan Ministry come to Wvlt. Find CF have sawmill "running nicely1/
have cleaned up the mill yard, sawed out all old logs &
many freshly cut."
2 Feb Elder Galen & Eldresses of SF visit Ministry about status
of SF & young Believer families.
3 Feb "Margaret Gould & her boy very troublesome indeed."
4 Feb Elder Daniel & Giles go with George Price to see some wood
land on the extreme south end of NF 70 acres, which a German
woman wishes to buy 10 acres of for $1,000. "We advise to
sell it." (This is south of CF pond.)
6 Feb Giles goes to NF to see Albert about the paper.
12 Feb Went to NF to see Albert about an article in the Shaker
paper about the "Liberal League1' Convention; "it gave some
offense to Elder Frederic & his co-adjutors."
13 Feb Giles finishes a counter top for the sisters & shellacs it,
Elder Daniel making baskets for sisters.
15 Feb Go to Albany & see Wm. Eddy to learn if he could come out
to the Shakers & hold some seances.
16 Feb Sawing out long timbers (42lft.) for a barn for Dr. Wade.
18 Feb Arrange with the Eddy Bros, to hold a seance on Wed.
(Mon) afternoon in Albany.
20 Feb Six brothers & sisters from each of the families and two
pf Ministry go to Albany to attend seance. "Some 15 dif-
ferent forms were manifest, 9 of whom were females. Some
large men & some very small women.
Philip Smith & Isaac Anstatt to to Oneida Community to see
about canning apparatus,also the raising & canning of toma-
toes for Oneida people."

21 Feb Philip & Isaac return, "not particularly enchanted."
"Giles goes to the out families to see the si steers about";
using the organ to perform the pieces to be sung at Society
meetings at the CF on Sabbath', ,,as the young sisters of the
CF are unwilling to use the organ at all."
24 (Sun) Society singing meeting in a.m. Sisters of NF and SF play
the tunes on organ.
