sale of NF 10 acres of land at $100 per acre. "The land
is wet, low & sandy, & we would not give $10 per acre for
it."

29 Jan (NL) Giles is writing & sending out circulars concerning
': the use of the organ, and fashion/ of dress coat, introdu-
cing the rolling collar & bosom.
Elder Frederic has a talk about the beard question, urges
the Ministry to require the wearing of them. We do not
think it wise. He has written to someone in Brooklyn sug-
gesting a Shaker meeting there "to manifest materializations;
a gift not now ours. What are we to do about it? We are
in a fix."
6 Feb Ministry come to Wvlt.
11 Feb William Johnson of WF measuares Elder Daniel & Giles for
overcoats.
13 Feb Giles fixes some boxes for supports to type cases & begins
to set type. Continues to set type every day.
18 Feb Marcia Hillsgrove comes from Lebanon.
19 Feb Bro Albert & Giles prepare Manifesto for mailing.
25 Feb Elder Daniel Boler goes to Groveland. Back on March 1st,
having found "the most prompt and energetic attention"
needed.
4 Mar Giles goes to NF & talks with Geo. Price & Albert about
taking charge of the farm as Thomas Beal is "broken down
with age, wear & infirmity."
In the evening, in a meeting at CF it was arranged for Henry
George to take charge of the saw mill & its proceeds, also
the grist mill. He also has the broom business & does some
canning/ & has sweet corn business. Philip Smith & Nehemiah
Whit^e, Office & family deacons, are to have entire products
of orchards.
6 Mar At NF arrange for Thomas Beal to give up the farm & Albert
Lomas to take it, to have oversight of all stock etc, take
care of orchards. All moneys to be delivered to Geo. Price
and he to oversee all sales of fruits, farm products or
stock. Writings of agreement drawn up and a copy given
to each.
9 Galen Richmond of SF very sick with lung fever.
10 Mar Giles goes back to Lebanon to heat up Ministry's house,
others on 12th.
8 Apr (NL) 2d Family very busy putting up medicine for Dr. A.J.
White; 500,000 bottles for Australia, large amount for
Irelandl and CF have orders for England & New Zealand.
