22 Mar Ministry return to Lebanon.
8 Apr Giles comes to Wvlt to see Lewis Funk "& make efforts to
settle his case."
9 Apr (Sun) Reading meeting at Wvlt CF, . Read Part II, Chap. 1 of
Millenial Church & consult the family about Lewis Funk.
10 Apr Giles labors with Lewis, visits the Wvlt families. Lewis
makes up his mind "to withdraw from society. " Giles
returns to Lebanon.
24 May Ministry come to Wvlt. The CF is 8 less than when we were
here before; 2 have died, 6 left. "Some feel a discouraged
spirit, do not want to take in any more ! This is simply
weak, and very foolish indeed. "
26 May Putting slate roof of large woodhouse & drying house north
of CF dwelling.
29 May Giles helps Aurelia put down some carpets in Office .
30 May Giles goes to SF to see about difficulty with their engine
driving sewing machines ; find it too small . Write to NYCf-U
about a change.
3 June Giles makes some small boxes for SF sewing machine table.
8 June Elder Daniel is bottoming chairs ; Giles hoeing in garden.
-20 Then he puts in new windows on front of CF dwelling.
20 June Giles goes to NYC to get new engine for SF Arrange for
JC Todd to take^l h.p. engine, purchase 3 h.p.
24 June Giles goes to SF to put up new shafting for new engine,
turn sewing tables. Also works there at setting up a churn
to be run by steam.
4 July New engine tried at SF; works fine running all the sewing
machines with 30 Ibs . of steam.
5 July Ministry return to Lebanon.
19 Aug (NL) Forty membe^rs of CF, 2d & SF go to Saratoga Springs
"on a tour of recreation" , "an outlet excursion. " Giles
goes along to "conduct the little enterprise, pay bills ,
etc.", get home midnight.
22 Aug Ministry comes from Lebanon.
26 Aug Rosetta Hendrickson is now Eld^ress at SF. She & Eldress
Harriet go to A&lbany to get an organ the SF has bought
from Hancock 2d Family.
18 Aug Stan ton, Samantha Bowie, Ella Benedic^'t & Giles go to Lou-
donville to deliver a lady' s bureau sold to a lady there
for $20.
