to put a stop to holding picnics on Shaker grounds.

1 Sept Giles puts up some public notices, forbidding picnics,
hunting, fishing, etc. on Shaker premises.
7 Sept Sisters, with brethrens' help, make 4 barrels of catsup.
8 Sept Fafyrmers take 4 loads of sweet corn to Albany; that is
11,000 ears, at 80 per 100 ears.

7 Nov Ministry come to Wvlt. "James Giff, the shoemaker who has
spent the summer here & went off, & been ^gone a few days,
is back & seeks a privilege. Has pawned all his clothes
for $8.00, & all the money he had. We tell him to go &
earn money & redeem his pawn, pay all his debts, and we
will then consider his case."
