26 Nov Giles goes to families "to consult the leaders about
plates, tableware; having samples sent to him."

28 Nov Telegram from Lebanon that Elder Robert'Wagan very sick;
Giles prepares to take morning train. Wagan died on 29th
after Giles watched with^ll day & night. Has many busi-
ness & society arrangements to make. Funeral on Dec. 2.

3 Dec Giles back at Wvlt. Cutting wood by steam mill. CF is
suffering for lack of water; a^queduct is leaking.

8 Dec Box of silverware comes from Boston. Silver-plated, for
3 families.
12 Dec Ministry return to Lebanon.

7 Jan Theodore Wicks takes his daughter, Anna, from Leb. NF.
Says it is only to have her visit frineds in Phila. & NYC
and, as she is of age, to give her an opportunity to make
up her own mind about being a Shaker or not.
10 Jan Geo. Price of NF goes to see Ministry about selling 10
acres in Niskayuna.
4 Feb (NL) Trying to find someone to take lead at Canaan Lower
Family, but cannot, so appears it will have to be broken up.
6 Feb Ministry come to Wvlt by railway.
"Hard condition" of family at NF. "Elder Austin pleads for
release from eldership & reasonably, but we do not see any
way to grant his request, unless we must."
10 Feb Ministry visit NF. It is "by no means in a prosperous
condition."

17 Feb (Sun) "A low vitality, spiritually, for a Shaker church; very
little spiritual zeal & energy, worship formal."
18 Feb Elder Daniel unwell, "troubled with an affection of the
heart." Giles working on "Mother's Sayings."
28 Feb Ministry read a new version of the Covenant, which is now
printed, sent to them from South Union.
2 Mar (Sun) in AFternoon, read covenant to whole Society who
could come to hear it. "Some few would not attend."
5 Mar Elder Daniel unwell "but does not house up." Has dyspepsia.
"It is proposed to move the old mill for a tenement house."

12 Mar Ministry return to Lebanon.
17 Mar Giles starts for Alfred because he has learned that Elder
Otis Sawyer is very sick & will probably die. He did.
