as retaining his Eldership at Alfred & also Trustee at

sent from Lebanon.
27 Apr Go to WF & appoint Isaac Anstatt as Elder to succeed Augustus
Blase (who has died), & he is also 1st Deacon.
29 Apr Go to SF to see Elder Galen about releasing a man named
Wm. Sweet, whose brother Job^ has taken a girl from SF
to wife; "rascally done."
2 May Giles goes to Troy to get James Irving to take a picture
for his pamphlet "Sketches etc."
14 May Giles & Chauncey Dibble to go Phila. "on a missionary
tour." Try to hire a hall. Hold evening meeting with
Shaker sisters. Finally rent an old church, corner of Wood & llth
Sts. & advertise it in L_edger;.
18 May (Sun) Elder Chauncey, the colored sisters & Giles hold a
meeting in the old church with about 100 present.
In evening, Giles goes to spiritualists' meeting, 810
Spring Garden.
21 May Hold evening meeting at lecture hall at 810 Spring Garden;
return to Shaker Sisters' home on Erie St.
23 May Giles back at Wvlt. Ministry returns to Lebanon on 28th.
17 July Paulina Bates died at Wvlt WF.
23 July Ministry comes to Wvlt. Elder DAB "very feeble"; Bro
Stanton also.
25 July "Elder Isaac Anstatt keeps up remarkably."

28 July Giles takes Eld Austin to Lebanon Centre Family for a rest.

5 Aug Ministry go to Groveland. Things appear well. Arrange
for Wm. Bussell to move to WF to live. Return to Wvlt
on 14th.
19 Aug 96, , HOT DAY. Preparing string beans for canning. In
evening, 12 sisters & 4 brethren go to Niskayuna to hear
temperance lecture by a 2d cousin of Buckinghams. "We
