10 Mar Ministry return to Mt. Lebanon.
17 Mar (NL) Elder Frederick still pleads to go to England.
CF mill at Wvlt burns, $15,000 to $20,000 loss.
John Decker of Wvlt WF dies.
20 Mar (NL) Elder Daniel making fancy baskets; Giles writes, etc
Medicine business very lively.
5 Apr (NL) "Terrible letters from Wvlt about Groveland debt to
them."
5 May Ministry come to Wvlt. Gardeners 10 days ahead of Lebanon.
6 May Elder Daniel works at fancy/baskets, Giles writes letters
& hoes to Elder Austin's garden.
22 May Giles not able to do much; has a boil in "a bad locality."
2 June Giles, with Eldress Harriet, Elder Rosetta Hendrickson &
Sister Mary Nelson, leave on a 6 week trip to Kastern
socities.
Go to Harvard & Shirley. On 9th, to Enfield, NH. See 2d
Family's new reservoir & waterworks "very costly & quite
convenient, in the main, but much needless expense." 4 men
& 18 females in family, have 20 acres of garden, mostly
dock & valerian.
Enfield NF has 4 men, 8 women, have over $2500 in pails &
tubs for sale.
On 15th to Canterbury. Visit mills, hoop machines, broom
handle machines, knitting machines, etc. At NF have 8 men,
34 women, "apparently doing well."
On 23d go to Boston. Visit market, art gallery. On 25th
go by steamer to Portland, then to Alfred. On 30th go to
Old Orchard Beach. Take sea bath. On July 2d on train to
Gloucester. "New dwelling house, very beautiful & conven-
ient, and we are thankful they have it to enjoy|i, although
the CF gave over $8000 to-help build it."
On July 5th,,to Poland Family. On 7th, go to Boston," ..take
train for Enfield, Ct. Their SF has 5 men, 3 boys, 10
sisters. Return to Lebanon on 12th.
4 Aug Ministry come to Wvlt. Nehemiah White still sick with
dropsy.
9 Aug Hot, 90 in shade. Giles works at SF "taking off casings
of cap in front of dwelling to clean out the bats. It is
intolerably bad, get out 3 pecks of manure & scores of bats,
& fix all up again. A very hard job & takes till late in
evening."
10 Aug CF canning beans, Eldress Harriet & Giles help string them.

13 Aug WF "have been doing a large job rebuilding the T to their
large brick house, removing girls' shop for hired men,
taking down brick hired men's house & removing ^ of old
