4th Sat Set out 1 row (& a piece) of Savoy Cabbage south of the-white onions, South
Garden; 2 rows Red Dutch (next to 4 rows sowed with Black Winter,Radish)
1st Garden, south side, east of Parsley roots. In the North Garden set out
5 rows Drumhead Cabbage next to the Scarlet Turnip Radish; sowed 4 rows
Long Salmon Radish next to the wall on the east side; some ploughing &
harrowing done. Very rainy after 11 a.m. Put up a box of seeds for CM,
Troy bill, $12,48.

5th Very rainy & windy; we staid at home, reading meeting AM, laboring M. PM

^4th N.B. Sowed 8 rows Scarlet Turnip Radish next to the Celery, North Garden.

6th Making compost on the sandpit lot; drawing manure from the hog yard, and 2
back houses, which last we cleaned out. Farmers on the mountain making
fences. Very rainy.

7th Drawing manure and mending fences; put up a gate by the hog yard.

8th 1st Garden, next tothe Red D. Cabbage we set out 5 rows of Scarcity Beet.
North Garden, east of the Rutabaga, set out 5 rows Early York Cabbage, and
2 rows Turnip Beet; east ofthe Drumhead, set out 5 rows Long Blood Beets
(except the Rutabagas & Carrots we have generally used a spade in setting out)

9th Very rainy. Cleaned out the root cellar and the brick shop cellar; picking
over peas, and printing.

10th Drew 27 oxcart loads of manure from the sheep yard to the compott heap.
Farmers fencing.' A damp bleak day.
