               21st (cont.)    writings etc. etc. both at  New York   City  & at Stratford Conn,  (which he and

                               Br. Frederick  had been to examine   into the past week) which was very    interesting
<br>
                               and truly very  remarkable  and singular*

               22nd             Hoed cabbages until   about half past 2 o'clock,  then it commenced raining.
<br>
                                Cleaned the waggon    for Elder Richard,  Some at work   in the seed shop.
<br>

               23rd             Fine hay weather.    Hoed the  small cabbages.   Lev! made, a trough for  getting
<br>
                                out cucumber   seed in.  Eldr. Richard Eldrs Antoinette  & Sister Harriet started
<br>
                                on a short journey east as far as Cummington   Mass.   Cut some rutabaga seed.
<br>

<br>
               24th             Cultivated the  Red Seed Onions   in North  Garden.    Hoed the carrots,  parsnips
<br>
                                & beets  & commenced hoeing    the small onions, commenced cutting the sage
<br>
                                seed.
<br>

<br>
               25th             Finished cutting sage seed.   Eldr. R. & sisters returned home about   1 o'clock
<br>
                                this afternoon.
<br>

<br>
               26th             Levi went over  to Hancock   & bought  some boards to make cucumber     racks of.
<br>
                                Hoeing  small onions & cutting sage,   commenced working out the    stuff for
<br>
                                cucumber  racks.   Fiatfield turnip seed cleaned  up today.
<br>

<br>
               27th             Levi went  up to the Springs with a load of corn,  sold H, Adams 200 bushels
<br>
                                corn at 5/6  per bu.  engaged  raking off the weeds from   small onion  bed.
<br>
                                Commenced hoeing the seed parsnips;      commenced cutting parsnip    seed.
<br>

<br>
                28th            SABBATH DAY.      Rainy no public  meeting.
<br>

<br>
                29th            Levi went  in comapny with some Brethren & Sisters after some berries.
<br>
                                Poor success.    Finished gatherint the  rutabaga  seed.
<br>

<br>
                30th            Levi & Edward Liddle drawing    corn on the cob to Adam's lower    mill, drew 200
<br>
                                bushels.  Engaged hoeing rutabagas out    north.
<br>

<br>
                31st            Finished making cucumber seed racks;     putting up some seeds, hoeing    etc.
<br>

                August
<br>
                1st             Gardners  engaged  putting up seeds most  of the day.   Rain
<br>

<br>
                2nd             Cultivated  & hoed the  sage,  sowed 5 rows Black Winter Radish    on the old
<br>
                                sage bed having previously   removed 2 rows of   the old sage roots.
<br>

<br>
                3rd              Hoed the west strawberry   patch by the  North  Garden, cut  some parsnips  seed,
<br>
                                 Levi went  on the mountain after a load of hay in the   afternoon.
<br>

<br>
                4th              SABBATH DAY.      Public meeting.   An unusual   large assembly of spectators
<br>
                                 attended.
<br>

<br>
                5th              Levi went  to the carding machine from there   to Canaan   to carry down some
<br>
                                 roping,  hoeing  strawberries, cleaned  up the  sage seed, had 25 Ibs.
