Conn., Sally Miller of Canterbury, Angelo Lockwood of Lebanon and
Oliver Train of Watervliet. Several were sent there permanently,
including Hattie DeGraw of Watgervliet; Amy Bowers and Katherine
Koch of New Lebanon; and Sadie McClure of Olive Branch.

I do not believe there were any more cases of mental illness in
the Shaker population than in the general population. The only
reason we know about these cases at all is because the Shakers
were required to keep daily journals and these, of course, con-
tained details of their families.
