27 June Mary Dahm had her musical recital. Other families invited but NF did
Sun. not come because of rain. All the children played their piano lessons
nicely but Helen Hubbard failed.
29 June Mrs. Dexter and two girls came out to the WF to clean up and get ready
for the camp to open next Saturday for July and August.
1 July Mrs. Mary Rochester and her maid Delia arrived from Albany to board for
a couple of weeks.
2 July Girls pi/cked cherries and currants to can. "After supper we held a bee
and all stemmed currants for jelly - Mrs. Rochester and her maid, Julia
& Hugo St$gfebel helped also. WE had two large dishpans full. We all
made a guess as to how many glasses of jelly it would make, the one that
got the nearest would get a prize, the one that fell shortest, a booby
prize, I to give the prizes. f
3 July Mary made 61 glasses of currant jelly and 14 qts. of cherries. So Julia
gets first prize and Delia the booby. Summer camp at WF opened.
4 July AG went back into the bakeroom.
Sun. We now have a splendid bathroom with 4 closets, 2 tubs, a slop sink and
one for washing clothes. Brethren have separate room.
5 July Celebrating July 4th. Played Victrola and had supper on lawn. "The
girls shot off firecrackers, torpedoes, cannon crackers and caps - toy
pistols. In the evening had a grand display of fireworks, Mary presiding
helped by the girls, and 2 kinds of sparkles for children. Had Japanese
lanterns hung around in the trees. Girls fromjthe summer camp came down.
6 July Dr. Lothridge was married last Sunday for second time to his nurse, Anna
Stare.
9 July Hugo's house put on foundation and Julia began cleaning it and getting
ready to move in.
11 July Elder Josiah and Hamilton here. "We had Victrola out under the cedars
Sun. all afternoon.
^ 13 July 11 I made 7 large deep custard pies and 9 raspberry pies and they were all
eaten up today."
^>\ ^ 29 July "I visited the Albany Girls Club at the WF this evening and found it very
cozy and homelike and a very nice set of girls."
30 July "Mr^. Meyer, Librarian at the Education Bldg. in Albany, here to select
out books he wishes to preserve."
31 July Little Laura Roland, 10 years old, who has lived here one year, goes back
to her stepmother and father. Florence Bourne went with her to Troy on
her way to her folks.
1 Aug Ozias's daughter visited - Hattie Blanchard. She is housekeeper for a
Mr. Dufour, a grass widower, in Glens Falls. He has 2 daughters.
2 Aug A carpenter from Newtonville is building the silo (of cypress), travelling
on a motorcycle. Nina Elliot's mother, brother and 3 other relatives
came from Bennington to visit her.
8 Aug Had Victrola, piano music and Shaker music and marching in the meeting
Sun. room this afternoon by the young people for Mr. & Mrs. Connelly (relatives
of Mame Sheffer and Belle Orlop who have been boarding with Julia Styo^ebel).
10 Aug Hugo took George to see Dr. Lothridge to get some medicine. "He has Been
on a spree for two weeks and the result is a worn out stomach from hard
cider/1
11 Aug Our grocer, George Warner, brought 10 bbls. of flour - $86. ,f
Joanna Myer, who has been "feeling poorly," said she was heavily charged -f^i

with electricity by the hard thunderstorm last night. "I told Maggie if *j*
the Lord would only charge her with a little spunk, ginger and mustard it
would be a good job."
Charles Smith and family, including his father aged 90, came in a $2500
Cadillac to order 100 doz. canned goods for his wholesale grocery business
in Schenectady.
28 Aug Girls1 camp broke up today and Hugo took all to the power house.
29 Aug AG gave Elder Josiah a Victrola record for his birthday, "Uncle Josh at the
