22 Dec School entertainment in meeting room. Children spoke pieces and had a tree. Some
of NF and CF came.
23 Dec The nurse taking care of Eldress Polly has given out and left and they have sent for an-
other one. Geo. Warner brought groceries and gave us a large box of oranges and a box
of candy from his wife.
Elder Josiah gave us a present of a meal of oysters.
25 Dec "Girls and Florence sang a Christmas song, then I started the Victrola and they all
Sat. marched into breakfast. We had 8 new records given us for Christmas gifts for the family.
Xmas Music while eating breakfast and dinner. We exchanged gifts in the family with one
another last evening. Grace had the dining room all trimmed up fine with Xmas decora-
tions. Had no meeting; the weather was so bad and Eldress Mary at CF sick as well as
Eldress Anna had a bad cold, Helen Hubbard, one of the girls, all rigged out as Santa,
called on us al I when we first got up and went over to Julia's who was yet in bed. Little
Victoria (Stroebel) was scared nearly out of her wits and her mother finally got her to shake
hands with him.... We had 4 oranges each, mixed nuts, a box of fine chocolates, a box
of hard home made candy, a bag of peanuts and all got very nice presents. Had fresh
pork sausages for dinner, cranberries and peach sauce. Hired men all got presents from
Eldress Anna. We did not do as well in Xmas store as anticipated, think itwill be better
to go in about December 1st near year. Marie had a Xmas tree in her room and she re-
ceived every attention.
30 Dec Marie has been in bed 12 weeks.
Foreman at NF (Kellam) has a daughter born a few days ago.
Av Goepper today made 100 large biscuits, 12 apple pies and 8 loaves bread.

2 Jan There has been no meeting in Meeting House at CF for 22 Sundays.
The large bell on the dwelling house is frozen and could not be rung for meals today.
3 Jan "Ella had beans yesterday, they wasn't even swelled let alone cooked. I would think of
stringing some for beads* If anybody had eaten them they surely would burst with acute
indigestion. Helen said "the beans had a divorce, each one had a separation and stood
out alone."
6 Jan The two Dr. Hackers came and put Marie in a plaster castuntil May.
7 Jan Got Marie into a wheelchair and Mary brought her out into the hall and into Eldress
Anna's and A. Goepper's rooms,
8 Jan Have had a special shoe made for Marie, has a high heavy sole and heel, to wear on
her good foot.
12 Jan Marie feeling very poorly. She cried lastnight with pain in her leg, "said it feltlike
itwas pul I mg out of the socket. "
15 Jan Eldress Polly died.
16 Jan This evening they practiced the funeral songs they expected to sing. "It was Eldress
Polly's request to be buried in a home made coffin that was Made for her. So George
has been varnishing it and they will line it.
Eldress Harriet BullardjaT NL. Had been eldress at SF many years before being voted
into Ministry Order at New Lebanon.
17 Jan Maggie went to Albany for floralpieces for Eldress Polly. One for SF was pillow of
flowers, one from CF was wreath of calla & easter lilies, and one from NF had a ribbon
"Beloved sister, at rest"- Mary Dahm lined the coffin with brocaded sflk.
18 Jan Al\t to funera\tPauline who was looking after Marie and two smallest girls,
Joanna and Ella Myer who have both had very faad colds, and A. Goepper who had baking
to do. No sisters went to the cemetery because it was too icy.
