10 Oct AG walked to WF and stayed all afternoon; had tea with the cook there, an
Irish lady from Dublin, Miss Bessie Dalton, who also told her fortune with cards
and tea leaves. The cook is hired by the Storeys who hope to buy the WF for
their church.
14 Oct Canterbury Shakers have ordered $45 of canned goods.
15 Oct AG comes out of bake room. Has been in since 5 June. Mary and Pauline go in.
AG's "chores now are 2d hall, men's house, blue the clothes and make the starch.
22 Oct George Warner, our grocer, has gone out of business and MreDenison has bought
his store and business.
26 Oct Frank McDonald, son of James McDonald and brother to EL/dress Rachel, called
to visit Eldress Rachel and Elder Isaac not knowing they were dead.

Eldress Anna is planning to buy 5 barrels of Gold Medal flour before it gets
any higher. "It is predicted flour will be $14 per bbl. before winter is
over for so much wheat is going to Europe."
29 Oct Had meeting here at home in a.m. NF and Elder Josiah came, CF not here.
Sun. "A load of Dahm's (in fact the ho Iw. damn family) arrived at dinner time." (6)
31 Oct "We have had quite a successful year, been blest with abundance. Our folks
are selling a great deal every day from store and farm. Had a Halloween supper
and party. All gathered in the dining room and supper was served out of plates
made of % pumpkins and we had lobster salad, pickles, potatoes, cheese, cake
and ice cream. The dining room was decorated with crepe paper or^ange and
black, with witches astraddle a broom and black cats. After supper the girls
all filed in masqueraded in a dance with vie trola going and it was hard work to
tell which was which. Cakes were served and inside of each cake was found
something - mine 5#, Sister Rosetta (of NL who was visiting) got a coral breast-
pin, etc. We had great sport* Then they went to the CF and NF, Hugo took
them in auto.
1 Nov Hugo took Eldress Anna, AG, Julia & Victoria to Enfield, Ct., taking SisterRosetta home
to New Lebanon on the way. Arrived Enfield about 5 pm, had supper and music until bed-

of all kinds." The next day Sister Lucy Bowers showed them all over.
3 Nov Arrived back home. Blowing and snowing so hard coming over the Mohawk Trail "we were
almost frozen." Stopped at No. Adams for dinner and Hugo bought a cap because his hat
kept blowing off.
"The whole Enfield property has been sold to a large tobacco company who raise tobacco
thereon. They have five enormous long tobacco sheds."
Sister Jennie Wells and Hattie Coburnffrom NF spend p.m. with Grace learning about
weaving.
7 Nov Election day - Charles Evans Huges vs. Woodrow Wilson for president.
8 Nov Hughes is the peoples' choice, it seems; Wilson defeated.
Deborah is cooking for hired men - has 12 for dinner, 10 for supper.
9 Nov Great mistake 1 Wilson is elected but rather close majority.
Grace helping Deborah. One hired hand got mad & left, said work was too hard.
10 Nov Deborah caught 8 rats in trapin hen house. AG helped Deborah, washed dishes; Grace
waited on table - 17 hired men. Some are working on water ditch across Shaker property
and pay board.
