19 Nov AG goes back in bakeroom which has been completely done over - new floor varnished
new windows, walls kalsomined and woodwork painted. Grace has woven 2 new rugs for
floor; new oilcloth for tables, new apple parer, new stove board.
20 Nov Albert Stroebel quit.
22 Nov Expect to realize about $2000 on oats and rye, when sold.
"Three cities, Albany, Troy & Schenectady, are talking of buying the West Family for a
Capital Park, no liquors to be used on the grounds."
25 Nov Albert S. came right after breakfast for his clothes which I had packed up and were locked
up inGrace's shop. Took 2 valises but stillhas one left; could not take all. "Mr.
Denison, our grocer, took them in his auto and saved carrying them that way."
27 Nov AG busy allday from 4 a.m. Made 17 apple pies, 10 loaves bread; picked and cleaned
7 chickens; stewed pumpkin for pies, mashed and prepared it.
28 Nov Made the starch and had it over to the wash house before the bell rang to get up; washed
and ironed; made bread and pumpkin pies; after dinner cleaned and drawed 3 turkeys.
Elder Josiah spent afternoon and had supper at SF, gave them Thanksgiving record for
phonograph.
Meeting at NF. No one went from CF but Elder Josiah. All from SF went but Deborah,
Maggie & Joanna. All spoke James Tribley came after Elder Mary's spinning wheel that she left here a long time ago
to be sold. She has found sale for it.
A Mr. Webster had 36 of our largest and best chestnut trees cut down without permission.
Elder Josiah and Eldress Anna got after him and he finally settled by paying Eldress Anna
$100. He said Elder Isaac gave him permission when he was living.
5 Dec Mary is giving Maggie electricity treatments an hour every morning and night for her arm
and back.
9 Dec Hugo took "Ozias Bogart's bureau, full of things, to be sent to his daughter, Hattie."
11 Dec Hired a new man, Charles Angelin, to take Albert's place - have five regular hired hands.
19 Dec Hugo, George and men killed and cleaned three large fat hogs for home use*
20 Dec AG cut up allthe fat and tried itout - was busy all day, never stopped for dinner, finished
at 4:30 more dead than alive. Had 22 gal. of pure white lard,
Hugo took hams and bacon to West Albany to be cured and smoked.
School entertainment in p.m. George Willey played on his violin, Victoria spoke 2 pieces,
children had a Christmas tree full of gifts.
25 Dec "Presents, candy, nuts and music galore this a.m. Had presents of 13 or 14 new records,
Xmas two very nice ones from Hugo and Julia. Ozias1 daughter, Hattie Blanchard^and her two
children and her brother Henry came to spend Xmas. Dinner was scalloped oysters, oyster
stew, celery, mashed potatoes, Xmas plum pudding with lemon sauce (made by Eldress Anna
& Mary Dahm), 3 oranges each and a basket of fruit from Mrs. Archie Dedrick in Loudon-
ville. At 2 p.m. had entertainment for SF, Npand CF folks and about 20 outsiders, which
lasted 2 hr. 40 min. and concluded with a Xmas ship, girls all dressed in sailor garb, dis-
tributing presents from the ship - everyone got something.


Maggie has been having a lame back. AG now says "It is Maggie and Dr. Stillman's judg-
ment to have her go to the Homeopathic Hospital in Albany for a while in a private ward
at $23 per week. So Hugo took her in auto ... and Eldress Anna went with her to see her
Settled. Itis a kind of general breakdown with her. And thus it has been with her, poor
child, ... her life long."
