Men set out 3000 tomato plants and at Church Family their men set out 4000.

9 June Hugo took Eld. Caroline to Hancock and brought Eldress Mary Gass back for week's
visit. Eld. Mary brought enough strawberries for3 meals and gave each a present of
money $2 or $3 each.
11 June Family living at West Family is named Finn. Father David and son David Jr. working
for us, Jr. doing "kitchen chores." Hamilton brought a peck of fine radishes from his
garden at North Family.
12 June Hamilton brought us a bushel of spinach from his garden at North Family.
17 June Meeting. All go but Ella, Freida and Joanna & Deborah. "Angeline Cox there for a
Sun. change, she never goes to meeting. She lives atthe Church.11
20 June Made 12 apple pies and 8 pans baking powder biscuits for dinner.
23 June Made 13 loaves of bread and 3 different kinds of cake.

24 June "Eld. Anna has just made me two falldresses and 4 summer dresses, my wardrobe was
pretty low."
28 June Our 3 girls, Helen, Eleanor and Marian, graduated this evening, also Geo. Willey.
"George played violin very sweetly."
1 July "Little Victoria played her piano lesson and received a prize. She is aged 5 years, a
Sun. beautiful fairy of a child and very smart and bright. "
4 July Mary made raspberry ice cream, chocolate & plain cream. Had chicken sandwiches,
light rolls, cookies, bananas, lemonade, salmon sandwiches, chicken, creamed potatoes,
oranges, tea, watermelon, first strawberries. No fireworks this year--waste of money
and powder on account of war. Girls had bonfire in apply orchard.
5 July "The two David Finns laying at home, dead drunk, not able to be on duty."
12 July Men have planted 9000 cabbage plants this week.
20 July Eld. Anna, Mary and all the girls go to Church (Family) to pick beans--60 rows picked.
23 July Picked 44 barrels beans, had with hired hands 29 pickers, also Mrs. Willey, Geo.
Willey, the Tribleys. Got thru at noon, strung beans all p.m.
24 July "All hands to Church to string & pick beans. Maggie never has gone to work at beans,
never does because someone is needed at home to attend store and telephone and meet
callers. As her health is very poor and she has the canning of the fruit with Eleanor's
help, it is not expected of her. " Maggie & Eleanor making currant jelly--74 glasses
made.
25 July Firstcanning at Church Family, got 301 doz. cans from 44 barrels of beans.
