Nov . 4 "Eld. Anna and Lucy to Albany for flowers for Maria . Ail went to funeral at 2:30 but
Monday Grace, Ella, Deborah, Joanna and smallest children. All from here spoke or started a
song. We practiced the funeral hymns last night in our meeting room . Lucy read a
piece in regard to her childhood and life and Eld. Caroline read a poem. Maria came
here from Enfield, Conn, with Caroline and Lucy. Was brought to Shakers when a small
child and had never b een a w a y . "

6 Nov. Someone stole 18 of Jennie Wells' young chickens at N .F., 24 from Libbie DeLong at
C . F . , and 55 from Dr.
Loth ridge .

Nov . 7 Maggie got a new bed--white^enamled with brass rods and posts a t h ead and bottom.


7 Nov. - Hugo goes to Enfield for another truckload. Fred Willey, hired hand at ChF, goes with him
8 Nov. Hugo back at 8 p.m.

13 Nov. Made 10 pumpkin pies, 10 loaves bread.

14 Nov. Made 10 pies, 14 loaves bread. (There are threshers working at Family.)

15 Nov. Mary put up in dining room hanging lamps with prisms from Enfield, Conn.

6 Dec. We paid $45 to Mt. Lebanon North for apples--very poor, inferiorones. "Our gospel
kindred done that much for us." 1 know how bad the apples are for I have had them to
peel .

11 Dec. "Eld. Anna very busy all the time on store work and dresses forchildren and girls."

12 Dec. Eld. Anna with Hugo and his family to Albany for the day Xmas shopping,

13 Dec. Eld. Anna with Pauline & Marion to Albany for the day Xmas shopping.

Dec . 1 8 Folks allbusy at store filling Xmas orders. "Eld . Anna almost worked to death all the time . "

20 Dec. School concluding for holidays. Eld. Anna gave each student and teacher candy and
fruit.

Dec . 2 2 Eld . Anna, Freida and Paul ine at shop doing up presents allday and all tired out tonight.

sweaters, knit goods and sewing.


31 Dec. Mrs. Bailet^arrives from Cuba. She is "sorely disappointed and heart broken with his
purchase. She does not like thelocation, climate or anything about it. She is a
stout Spanish woman, keen and smart. She says they have been married 24 years and
that Mr. Bailey is an old idiot. They lived on 1/2 their interest in Cuba , Shefeaid
sweet corn was ready to eat there now and roses blooming profusely."
