15 Mar Viola made 3. doz. crocheted silk roses fortowels this p.m.; Eld. Carol ine made 100
buttonholes today, Freida made 50 buttonholes and sewed on 50 buttons; atshop they
finished making 30 khaki coats forlittle boys and have 30 pairs of pants to do for Belgian
refugees. Albany Red Cross brings work out already cut and with thread.

16 Mar Maggie still has Helen carry her breakfasts to her and Eld. Anna still makes her fires and
carries her up a cup of tea an hour before she eats.

18 Mar Eld. Josiah and Hugo have early breakfast and leave by car at 5:45 to Schenectady, take
Empire State Express toSyracuse, then to Cortland to buy 5 Holsteins-Freisian cows. Stay
over night. Two cows at $330 are for South Family, 2 for ChF, 1 for Schairer.
The 30 pairs ofpants are finished.

21 Mar Maggie has been sick 6 weeks, Eld. Anna still carrying tea and making her fires.
Eld. Josiah stillstays here. Doctor calls to see about sore on Qeborah's leg - bone ulcer.

25 Mar Lucy sick, not to meals.
After supper, Maggie, Julia, Victoria, Eld. Caroline & Lucy auto to Albany to see passion
play at Vincentian Institute, "Veronica's Veil" - cast of 100, 50 speaking characters.
But Albany practically deserted, allgone to NYCity to see parade of 27th Oivn., and
play postponed. So group went to Proctor's theater instead.
Papers report 3 million people watch parade ! "veterans - the heroes that broke Hindenburg
line.

27 Mar Eld Josiah went back to Church Family.
Hugo in a,m. took Maggie to Mrs. Lincoln's in Albany for a few days (was 5 weeks & 4 days)
In p.m. Hugo, in covered auto truck, took group to see "Veronica's Veil " - Eld. Anna,
Freida, Geo. Duncan, Grace, Ella Myer, Pauline, Helen, Susan, Eleanor, Marie, Marion,
Jul ia& Victoria. Eld. Caroline & Lucy were invited but did not go. Party got home about
1 1 "3- and blizzard began about midnight.
Dr. Stanton to see Deborah's leg -says it's a man's disease, might be cured in 6 months,
might have 14 years if she doesn't stay off it.

28 Mar-9 Snowing and blowing so that no mail delivered, sisters don'tgo to shop to work but knit
in Eld. Anna's room; men sort potatoes--anything inside. No visitors, no one away from
home.
"By order of government all clocks to be set forward one hour tonight until Oct. 26th.
The farmers have no use for this move and have all fought against it, but the city folks
won out. It is no advantage to country people whatever."

2 Apr Maggie still at Mrs. Lincoln's "recuperating her health, ifshe ever had any, or every
will have any."
