7 May Eld. Anna has a "swellfront portrait ofherself hung up, just taken, that Maggie made her
a present of (I think ita poor cheap affair and homely, don't look one bit like Eld. Anna),
no one really likes it."
8 May Ella Myer put down a new rug (or carpet) in her room and covered the border of the room
(or sides) with linoleum. Grace took old carpet and put in hired men's dining room.
Ella Winship visited Eld Anna. Had sent one of her girls, Frances Scott, back to her
father because she would not mind "and besides did not want to stay among Shakers, so
she said. "
11 May "Tonight just as Paul ine
got about 60 eggs packed in a jar of waterglass fornext winter
and was carrying it across thekitchen, one of the handles broke off and down she went
'kerplunk 1 as allthe girlsstood around, about 20 loud "oh's 1 wentup and the noise
sounded as if a mule had fell to his haunches. We all went running and behold the sight
we gazed upon. The waterglass covered the ceiling and floor and every egg was cracked
but only 3 were lost. I took part and Susan rook part forbaking and cooking and the muss
was soon cleaned up."

15 May Made 12 loaves of bread, 11 rhubarb pies.
Geol Dahm and his sons, Frank & Joseph, are finishing the garage of ChF. Board at SF.
Eld Caroline & Lucy took a walk to North Family this p.m.
Marie Mayer is 204- yearsold.
Hugo took Eld Caroline, Lucy and her dog Brownie to Albany to Dr. Kelley, a veterinarian,
kjg tobe sheared & have nails clipped.
Grace very busy weaving rugs allthe time, has lots of orders.

31 May Grace and I walked to Ch F after supper with asparagus, butter, bread, pie & cake for
Ba rba ra.
1 June Meeting here at home. North Family & Eld. Josiah here. All go from here except
Sun. Deborah, Joanna & Maggie who is sick in bed with headache all day.
2 June 94 at 4 p.m. "Aeroplanes fly over us very often now, sometimes 4 and 5 a day. They
make a great whirring noise for a long distance away. We can hear them long before they
get here. "
