25 June Eld Anna bought 18 cantaloupes from a pedlar at 10cJ each. They were fine and as sweet
as sugar. Strawberries for supper & breakfast "right along. "
29 June Grace and I took walk to cemetery to put flowers on Eva Larkin's grave.
30 June Maggie has about 67 qts ofstrawberries canned. Eld Anna and all the girls weeded out
the peas in the garden.
1 July Eld Anna and girls picked currants in p.m. Eld Anna bought cabbage, lemons & oranges
from a pedlar.
2 July Harry Richmond, Eld Caroline Tate's uncle, aged 82 yrs., hoes the beans, corn & tomatoes
every day.. He is a very good, industrious man. Mary cooked 6 old chickens for July 4th
Eld Caroline, Lucy & Mary made 103 glasses of currant jelly and were all thru by noon.
Ministry sisters arrivedin a,m. at Ch F. Sent for Eld Anna & Eld Josiah to be present
at theirshop at Church this p.m.
"There are rumors afloat to the effect that theNorth Family here expect to disband,
sooner or later. Time alone will prove the truth or untruth of it. "
3 July I made 3 coconut layer cakes with red, white & blue icing and 12 Ig loaves bread.
4 July Strobels have gone to Saranac Kake untilMonday. Hot, 94 at 5:30. Had our supper
Fri. on lawn, yard decorated with bunting and all size flags, 3 tables decorated with red,
white &blue, paper doilies and napkins, pressed paper dishes, Victrola music all p.m.
Place cards and cannon-shaped favors filled with candy.

6 July Maggie keeps her room & bed, meals carried. Eld Anna waits upon her altogether.
9 July Harry hoed 22 rows of tomatoes.
Deborah comes to table for meals, leg greatly improved.
10 July Eld Anna and girls to ChF a .m. right after breakfast to clean canning rooms upstairs & down.
Eld Anna went with others to boat landing to meet visitor; Eld Anna also took Marie to
see doctor about eyes.
14 July Bean canning started. Men, Eld Anna & girls picked 18 barrels beans. I was firstin
canning room to start stringing.
15 July Finished stringing beans in a.m. Made bread and 102 lightrolls. Ironed in p.m.
17 July Eld Anna, Freida, Geo., Grace, Pauline, Helen Hubbard, Susan, Eleanor, Marie, Marion,
Catherine, Charlotte, Viola & Hugo in auto truck to Hancock to pick huckleberries in the
mountains. Started at 5:30 a.m. after early breakfast, took dinners with them, most got
home 10:30 p.m. with 57 qts. Didn't get to Hancock until 11 a.m. because of detour.
18 July Those who stayed over in Hancock came home with 52 more qts. berries.
19 July Huckleberries canned - 86 qts.
