taking the North Family's help to his own farm to keep his own farm in fine shape. A

12 Aug Our beans done for this year.
14 Aug Mary started with 12 turkey chicks in spring, has only 4 left, rest died one at a time.
20 Aug Beans at ChF finished for year. Dr. Lothridge to see Anna because of dizzy spells,
vertigo and 'all gone1 feeling. Given tablets.
22 Aug Eld Anna, Lucy, Susan & Marion to North Family to help look over and pack some of
their things to get ready to move.
Hugo drew fertil izer and 2 loads of furniture from
North Family to SF.
Grace wove 4 rugs today, each 1 1/2 yards long. Men dug 25 bu. potatoes for sale.
23 Aug Eld Anna and girlsclearing out 'gown shop." Men dug 20 bu. potatoes.
25 Aug Received 8 boxes finest & choicest chocolate from Elder Arthur Bruce. Eld. Anna
divided among whole family. There were 19 airplanes flew from Albany to Schenectady
today right over our house, but not all at once. "
"Eld Anna and the girls rode In auto truck to Loudonville home of Mrs. Chas. Schupps
with some old furniture she had bought and stopped on their way home at the aviation
field to see the airplanes."
26 Aug 38 airplanes flew over today in a race to Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo & Toronto,
prize $10,000. "There has been a constant heavy rumbling in the air allday. Our
necks were on the stretch and it took much of our time running in and out of the house,
locating and watching the machines. Didn't know but we would need Sloan's Liniment. ..
to rub our nexks with. The planes did skim along beautifully and swiftly and looked I ike
huge devil darning needles or birds."
27 Aug Several bad accidents in the air derby. They all stopped at Quentin Roosefelt Field.
Several smashed and several aviators badly hurt, one seriously, was taken to Homeopathic
Hospital in Albany but will recover.
Eld Caroline, Mary and Eleanor made 84 glasses elderberry j e l l y and canned
34 qts. elderberries. ((Maggie Caldwell used to be the jelly& preserve maker; Eld
Caroline has now-apparently taken over this responsibility.)
