                        corn relish.  Grace  moved her clothes out of attic  room at shop downstairs in her shop to

                        give North Family folks more room.     Deborah moved out of her little  room - Isabella
<br>
                        White expects to occupy   it.  They will all live on lower floor and have  shops upstairs
<br>
                        except  Hamilton who will  have Ozias   Bogert's old room on 2d floor.  Byron will  live
<br>
                        upstairs at men's house.
<br>

<b>29  Aug</b>     Group  from Hancock,, stay to supper & take   Maggie  Caldwell  back with  them for 3 weeks
<br>
                        to recuperate her health.   Hamilton brought  us 9 ]j;j cantaloup from his garden
<br>

<br>
<b>30  Aug</b>     Mary  killed & dressed 4 old hens and 3 young roosters for  dinner tomorrow.
<br>
                        1 made bread and 4 3-layer coconut cakes.     Men  picked  125 bu,  tomatoes.
<br>
                        Byron here all day h elping our folks move & getting shop ready for   paper hangers.
<br>

<b>1  Sept</b>     Beets all done for year.  Eld Caroline & Mary canning elderberries    & sw.  cucumber  pickles.
<br>
            Mon         Byron brought us 8 Ib. white  clover honey in  comb.
<br>

<b>2 Sept</b>     School  opens /Rena  Landrigan the teacher.   7 pupils - 3 ours 7rest outsiders.
<br>
                        Hugo  brought a load of furniture here from NF.    Hamilton brought  lotof  cantaloupes.
<br>

<b>4 Sept</b>     Geo.   Duncan & Hugo go to Mt.    Lebanon with truckload   of old chairs forSarah  Collins.
<br>
                        Peeling and canning tomatoes at   Church  Family every  day.
<br>

<br>
<b>6 Sept</b>     Hugo,  Victoria,  Geo.  Duncan,   Eld Josiah, Eld Anna,   Grace  Dahm  & Anna   go to Burnt
<br>
             Sat        Hills BaptistChurch for  clambake supper.    Cost $1.50, each had 15 clams,    broth, coffee,
<br>
                        graham  & white  bread, chicken,   corn, sweet & Irish potatoes, sliced tomatoes,  cole  slaw,
<br>
                        3 kinds of pie.  Eld Anna  and  1 each ate 25 clams.  Beautiful warm,   moonlit starry night.
<br>
                        On way   home we stopped   in Schdy & had ice  cream and candy.
<br>
                        (Elder Josiah's brother-in-law was deacon in this church and his niece, Mrs.     Jennings,
<br>
                        was very active.)
<br>

<b>8 Sept</b>       Eld Anna  & Ella Winship  in to Albany to select wallpaper  forsisters'rooms at  shop,
<br>
                        Eld Josiah to order cans for canning, and I to get two back   teeth pulled.  Had gas,  cost
<br>
                        $2, awful  sick.  In p.m. folks to ChF to peel  tomatoes - 177bu.
<br>

<br>
<b>10 Sept</b>    Plumber and paperhangers   & Geo.   Dahm all  working  at Sisters Shop getting it ready.
<br>
                        Canned  goods selling very gast.   Girls labelled 161 doz.  canned goods after  3  p.m.
<br>

<br>
<b>14 Sept</b>    Eld Anna and Brooks girls auto to  Pittsfield,had dinner and supper at   Hancock  Shakers.
<br>
             Sun        Went  to No.  Adams to see John Martin,    Brooks girls'uncle and guardian, but he never
<br>
                        showed up.    He was notified they were coming especially to see    him.
<br>

<br>
<b>15 Sept</b>    Hugo drawing furniture   from North Family all  day.  John Martin phoned to say he and
<br>
                        Uncle  Sam were coming soon on a visit to see the   Brooks girls.  "We will  see."
<br>
                        Eld Caroline  & Mary canned 30 qts peaches.
<br>

<br>
<b>16 Sept</b>    Drew  cans from Albany  for canning.   Horses became frightened   at rattling ofcan^s when
<br>
                        unloading,  ran away  and threw the hired hand,   Charles, hurting his foot and shaking
<br>
                        him up badly.   If ithadn't been for Hugo he mi ght have neen killed.
<br>

<br>
<b>17  Sept</b>   Eld Caroline  & Mary made   30 qts chili sauce.  1 made 13  large pies from one pumpkin.
<br>
                        1 send a basket lunch every  day for our folks peeling tomatoes at  ChF.
<br>
