19 Sept Group (including Frances Hall) from Hancock for truckload of furniture - large cupboard
with glass doors, 6 cases canned goods.
21 Sept Eld Anna brought Ella Winship over from NF to "see her future dwelling place" in p.m.
22 Sept Lucy over at NF helping clean and pack to get ready to move.
Eld Anna and girls cleaning rooms at Sisters Shop, now that paper hanger finished.
23 Sept I made 14 loaves bread, 13 pies. Eld Caroline made 15 qts grape catsup this p.m.
Eld Anna & girls scrubbing and cleaning, washing windows at Sisters Shop,
Plumber put in air shaft and fixed toilet & bathroom. Eld Sarah Berger & Catherine Allen
arrive at ChF and expect to stay and help clean at NF and pack. Sold a "great pile of
rubbish up there to junk man."
27 Sept Heavy frost. Men all busy gathering tomatoes at NF all day. These are perfect, clear to
the stem, large, smooth & sound, very meaty. Grandest we've ever seen. The name is
"My Maryland. " Byron brought us 24 Ibs.choice clover honey. Hugo very busy all p.m.
moving furniture from NF.
28 Sept Eld Anna, Ella Winship and girls arranging rooms and putting down carpets at Sisters Sgop.
Sun. Eld Caroline & Lucy, George & Grace Dahm went on auto trip to Bennington Vt. with
Frank & Frances Dahm.
29 Sept Victoria Strobelquite sick with scarlet fever. Maggie Caldwell still at Hancock.
Writesshe has a cold.
1 Oct Eld Anna, I, Viola, Catherine & Gertrude Cross go to Bennington, Arlington & Manchester
Vt. ' "We stopped an hour in Arlington to see the Cross children's mother and what did we
find? An old shack of a house, not much of anything in it, a drunken brute of a husband,
nothing to eat or wear, and another one on the way. One epileptic and 2 other rather
bright-appearing youngsters. Eld Anna talks of taking here. Poor youngsters don't/what
it is tohave a decent meal. We did not remain long." k:*01"J
4 Oct. Finished up canning for this year, thank the Lord. I made 14 loaves bread, 1 7 apple pies,
3 chocolate layer cakes, 1 loafcake.
5 Oct. Frank & Frances Dahm have been here 21 times since Jan. 1 and stayed for meals.
7 Oct Eld Anna and all hands cleaning & fixing up rooms for NF. Hamilton &. Byron moving NF
belongings & household goods. 3 truckloads of tomatoes to NYC.
8 Oct Two truckloads of tomatoes to NYC. Chas Smith of Schdy takes 100 cases canned
tomatoes, Mr. Walker takes 500 cases.
Lucy & Harry over at NF helping pack and cleaning up, as are Eldresses Sarah Berger
& Catherine Allen. Also sell ing alotof old furniture.
Ella Myer has gone visiting, Eld Anna takes over her dining room work.
