12 Nov Henrietta Ahl (see March 10, 1919), who lived in "Churches Orchard near the house"
was assaulted in her house at 4:30 p.m. by man demanding money. Grabbed by throat/
knocked down, kicked, etc. Scared away by friends who arrived on motorcycle. Her
Jj^sband is in Albany Hospital with broken leg from motorcycle accident. She is now staying
in ChF Office where her sisteris working.
17 Nov Hugo to Troy "to charter a car to ship old furniture to Mr. Spring in Boston. "
"Eld Anna has received letters ofcomplaint from her customers that some of the
green beans are found to be sour upon opening them. As they have gone all over to different
states, itbrought a terrible burden upon Eld Anna and great worry of mind. All she can do
to remedy the matter is torefund theirmoney.
\v 19Allhands making sale goods for store.
20 Nov Maggie making ten fancy ribbon baskets for the store; Mary makingrsoap & washcloth
dolls for store.
21 Nov NF and CHF hired hands drawing wood here from NF to our sheds. Grace weaving rugs
for sale. Six of Maggie's baskets sold.
22 Nov Hugo took truckload, Chas. a 2-horse teamload, ?Fred Willey auto truckload, hired
hand 2-horse team load, all of furniture toTroy to fillcar to go to Boston. "From Boston
it w i l l
be shipped down South. "
We sold 3 of our old horses and Hugo shot his own horse, 24 years old, to make room in
barn for NF horses. Hamilton brought one down and 2 more will come next week.
24 Nov NF folks put heater in lower hall of Sisters Shop.
25 Nov I made bread and 9 huckleberry pies; cleaned and stuffed 3 turkeys and 1 rooster.
Mary cleaned 3 roosters for stewing.
29 Nov. Ice storm lastnight. Entertainment held at 2 pp.m. with guests from ChF and NF -
T'giving recitations, instrumental music, singing, dailogues, etc. Dinner -turkey, dressing,
gravy, celery, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, turnips, sweet pickled pepper, cabbage
slaw, bananas, Tokay grapes.
29 Nov You can't get any sugar unless you buy $1 .00 worth of groceries, then you get 1 Ib. for
18<. Flour going up to $20 bbl so Eld Anna intends to get several barrels right away.
Byr$n put up stoves and stovepipes in Sisters Shop.
"While I was taking my bath tonight in the tub, the stovepipe Geo. Duncan neglected
to wire up, as he was asked to do by 3 different sisters,came tumbling down about the
room, scaring me nearly to death. But, as the fire had just about gone out, no harm was
done. Maggie happened on the toilet and came to the rescue."
2 Dec Hugo & Eld Anna to Mt. Lebanon with truckload of old chars Sarah Collins bought.
Brought home work boxes and fancy work /ld Anna bought from NF.
3 Dec Hamilton started heater in hallof Sisters Shop to warm the building.
4 Dec Hugo brought home 6 bbls PillsbQry flour at $15.75 per bbl.
