strange conduct."

3 Apr Eldresses Catherine & Sarah came to South Family. "Visitedevery sister on the place and
asked ifeveryone were willing for either Ella Winship or Eld. Caroline to help Eld Anna
with her duties as Eld. Anna would never be able to bear so much again. They want
someone to do the clerical work such as answering letters& keeping books, all the
financial affairs 7or anything needed to be done. Itis generally supposed Ella Winship
will be the one chosen. I can see the Ministry want her. We all had a chance to have
our say today, for once 7to the Ministry ifwe never do again, about anything we wished
to. Maggie & Freida are greatly peeved about matters in general. Neither one will
accept the ones chosen and say they would not come under anyone younger than they are.
It is veryevident both want an office, as they both claim they should be the one chosen.
A sure signindeed that neither are fitfor the place. Eld. Caroline does not care to be
bothered with a pen or writing of any kind. "
