22 July Frieda and Lucy go for a walk and are invited to see the children's gardens at Pre.
23 July Promise my four garden tools to the children at Pre; they come for them Sat. p.m.
Fri./Aug 2 The tenters come this evening.
4 Aug. Wind and rain off and oh - cold. The tenters come to dinner and supper.
5 Aug. The three tenters wash and iron all day.
7 Aug. yDavid Grandilla, dealer in monuments, finished the work in our cemetery late today
and received a check for $171 . He treats us with a ride and ice cream, home at
9:30 p.m.
9 Aug. Hugo takes El. Anna/ Caroline and Lucy to Lake George. Arrive 10:30, have 2 hour
motor sail on lake, dine at 1:30, start home 5:30.
10 Aug. El .Anna and Lucy go down to Albany to Buick salesroom. Select and buy'a car.
Sat. Caroline and I pay $800, Hugo puts in $400, old car allowance $400.
13 Aug. Car paid for and brot home today.
14 Aug. Ministry here for the day; come by bus and are taken home in new car.
15 Aug. Plumber expected, does not appear.
16 Aug. No plumber today after faithful promises.
18 Aug. Ella, Frieda and Lucy off with lunch to Lake George.at 8:30 a . m .Home at 10:40 pm
Sunday "tired buy happy, had a fine time, 11
23 Aug. Mary and Drano work together and force the dining room drain to work. Have carried
water out of doors nearly four weeks.
29 Aug. Two men come to talk about buying 200 acres for a golfcourse.
17 Sept. El .Anna goes with the Stroebels to Rochester in our new car for which the South
Family paid not a single cent.
26 Sept. Caroline and Lucy to Albany, are fortunate in seeing the first ocean freightercome
to the Albany Port to unload and reload. Go to Montgomery Ward's and pay SI 1
for the swing that was sent to us lastJune.
27 Sept. Paul ine and Lucy go for a walk "to see the wonders at the Shaker Farm . "
2 Sepf..7 Frieda, Lucy, Pauline, Susan and Victoria go over the new Mohawk Trail and new
Sunday Taconic Trail, both beautiful . Start 8:15 a . m . , home 6:30
