8 Feb Martha Bates & Harriet Ingham move to 2d Order.
Dec Bought 32 acres from Van Vrankens adjoining our north farm inNiskayuna for $1102.
"Purchased with money of the sisters' earnings, much to their credit."

March Bought 9 acres in Rotterdam adjoining other farm for $175 per acre or $1,575. This was
also moneys of sisters' earning.

Jan B Trustees paid $100 toward an addition to schooihouse at ChF so it would accommodate all
families.
During year "we have dug more than 1 3/4 miles.of ditch, mostly on thewest part of our
farm, bogged several acres and scraped down several sand knolls and cleared several
acres of lowland."

1858
11 July Much damage from hailstorm (as large as hens eggs) including breaking 1200 panes glass.
17 July Damage from hurricane.
14 Dec Put up several coal stoves, bought 20 tons of coal.

23 Apr Galen Richmond leaves his wife, gives her house & lot in Troy and Shakos take possession
of his farm and he comes to SF to live.
1861 Built bleaching house, brick, east of Office barn; woodhouse 54' x 26' east of dwelling;
and timber shed 54' x 22' north of sawmill.

1862 Rented west farm on halves to David Ogsbury and north farm on halves to James & David Pier,
1862 BuSIt drying house on Rotterdam farm 77' long. Their broom corn raised there.
Received $1100 from Canal Commissioners for damage to Rotterdam farm.
1863 "Finish Sand Creek Road through our land this season and receive $440 from the Road
Commissioners for It."
Begin canning sweet corn.

1864
March Sold 100 acres of west farm with all buildings for $6000.

Bought 31 acres woodland 4 miles from Rotterdam place for $1100.
