5 Apr George Freeman and oldest son and daughter to Cohoes
to find a place.
6 Apr Alvira took Eliza Ann Megill to Albany to live "to
escape danger" (from bad influence of Freeman family)
Mathias or Mathew Messner has taken "the management
of the gardens" except the vines which Jeremiah Lowe
retained.
7 Apr "The Shaker mill which our folks built in 1833 and /^/
owned till about 10 years ago was burned down."
"The Freemans, all 8, went to the devil whose
(disciples) they proved to be."
8 Apr Eldress Paulina took Minnie Spencer to A^lbany away
from the Freemans.
9 Apr "Mary Wheaton's mother came after her and her bro-
ther Fred who had gone after the Freemans who
bewitched 4 of our young folks so that we lost
them"
18 Apr Lucy Fuller's funeral. She died quite suddenly.
She marched on A^pril 10 and died 16th. "No one could
be better spoken of."
26 Apr "Porter Sterns turned to the world, not to live in sin
but as he thinks, do better."
27 Apr Sisters help some with milking in p.m.; brethren have
done it alone since last fall.
12 May Minnie Spencer returned for her second trial.
18 May Mary^Hathaway's funeral at SF attended by some of WF.
20 May Francis Smith turned to the world today.
31 May Eldress Paulina Bates and Nancy*Wicks started for
"colored sisters at Philadelphia."
7 June Eldress ^Pauline fel1 down a full flight of stairs at
Philadelphia.
12 June Nancy^returned from Philadelphia, had to leave Eldress
Paulina.
22 June We took in two little sisters from East Albany, Emily
and Jane, Frisbee, 12 and 6.
7 July Eldress^Paulina returned.
17 July Eastman of West Albany here today with 2 sons and house-
keeper. Has cattle yards. Wife died of diphtheria late-
ly. "He seems very friendly to Believers; comes often
to our meetings."
22 July Minnie Schreiber, 14 years old, came here to live.
4 Aug George Lewis Eiker came as candidate from Canajoharie.

20 Aug John^Decker had 2 ribs broken when his horses started
unexpectedly.
27 Aug "Lorenzo Grosvenor, a turn-off from Harvard, is here.
He has liberty of ministry to write a history of
Shakerism." Left 31st.
