10 Jan Herman Klages returned from Philadelphia. Could not
get his wife and son to come but hopes they will.
26 Jan Eldress Alvira, Mary Ann and Agnes to Albany to get
shirts to make - the second time.
"None of the brethren but me work in the wood; Aaron
and Herman Klages work in the shoe shop; Aaron drives a
team for the sisters; Herman helps the sisters wash;
John Ebisch sizes broom corn; Henry Kremer sews brooms
and helps Peter Schmidt, the cow man, milk; Herman
Muller gets in wood and sews a few brooms; Chas.
Pretsch sorts broom corn; Alex Milne minds the hens and
kitchen wood; John Decker drives team for brethren;
Isaac gpes to market."
1 Mar Some ofpien getting*! out wood; "I favor myself by
getting fout basket stuff."
3 Mar Peter Schmidt has been laid up several weeks; finally
came to supper. Henry Kremer has been taking care of
the cows.
17 Mar Peter down again.
22 Mar "I make baskets."
24 Mar "Henry Kremer turned in office because he had not
turned on."
"Peter Schmidt is not wholly laid up but does not work.
Aaron Sonenburg is a good deal better as to his stomach
but has a sore knee but he works."
18 Apr Sarah Drumm turned off and took Mary and Cornelia, her
daughters. Clara and her baby stay as yet.
Herman Klages went to Phila. in March to get his son
but has not corne back.
17 June Lydia Rhodes "set out." 62 years old
23 June Dr. Wade came to treat Mary Ann Matthews' wart on her
eye, Aaron's dyspepsia and Eldress Alvira.
28 June Herman Klages came back fromPhila.
30 June Herman is missing at breakfast. Not seen |tsince.
6 July Isaac's nephew and wife visit.
12 July Caty Ferguson and a girl knocked senseless in NF office
by lightning.
28 July Eldress Alvira Conklin and Hester Crandall return from
Phila. Been gone 3 weeks and one day.
15 Aug Three Phila. colored sisters came on a visit.
17 Aug Richard Webb, 16 years old, came.
26 Aug ( Sun) Had public sing and prayer meeting. Elder Giles
preached. A great crowd in and many outside the Meet-
ing House. They also have picnics in our and CF woods.
"Aaron Sonenburg who has been a very useful brother is
so out of health that he has given up working. Gloomy
enough, few brethren and those who would cannot do much
and others do not want to do much and the prospect is
for a worse condition. Sisters are better off."
3 Sept Aaron drowned himself about 4 pm "from ill health, pain
and distress," in NF stone quarry. The coroner and
