Thu./July 19 John Vandenburg came to see his stepchildren, wanted to take the boy away,
went home without him. In the evening John and the children's mother both
come, Willie ran for the woods.
Fri./July 20 Mother came again forthe boy/ did not get him as he had taken to his legs.
Sat. /July 21 Alexander took Will ie to Troy/ according to agreement with his mother. Had
quite a time to save the boy from his mother.
17 Aug. Willie's mother came here to take him and his sister Fanny away but left after
making quite a row as the children had taken leg boil.
18 Aug. Alexander & Augustus went to Troy to see about the children, came home with
their aunt who, in company with A.Y. (Alexander Youngs) took them to Albany
to choose a guardian.
Sun. /Sept. 2 Willie C. attacked on the way home by his mother and two Irishmen. After
having quite a clinch he was released by a couple of the younger brethren
who interfered in his behalf.
10 Oct. Canning corn finished forseason. 2008 doz. cans filled for sale.
11 Oct. Canning quinces for our own use,
12 Oct. Company of sisters/ girls & boys went to Rosendale to gether walnuts.
13 Oct. Engaged in mat business, order for 75 sets
17 Oct. Boiling sorghum to make molasses.

2 May Annette Youngs & Felix BTwent off in the night/ much to the surpise of her
equals. If she cqpfind any comfort/ she is welcome to it. ^^
13 May Elder Jeremiah/Augustus B-t*; Edward P**arid Alexander Yfwent with an officer
to search the house of Andrew Civer, one of our near neighbors, where Augustus
Sonberg had secreted things he had stolen from our Family. The things were
mostly found. They were both arrested/ are now awaiting their trial.

peas/ beans, and gooseberries.

26 Aug. Considerable excitement this morning in consequence of our corn spoiling,
nearly 70 doz. Is now unfit for use. The remainder they intend to boil over '
today. Commence drying corn.
