10 Feb. Singers from Enfield, N,H. come to visit with Singing Master Bro. James
Russell. Eat supper at 5:30 for 4-5 weeks so as to have singing meetings to
learn to sing and to read & write music.
18 Mar. Enfield singers move on to Mt. Lebanon.
12 Sept. John D. and Isaac gone to tryand recover a horse that was stolen out of our
pasture lastnight.
13 Sept. We learn that when our horse was stolen, Second Order had 20 of their best
fowls stolen. No clue yet to the thieves.
15 Sept. We go down to the Church this evening to hear an Indian that is travelling
around, telling his experience of Indian lite.
16 Sept. The Indian is here. Very interesting time with him--he enjoys his visit with
the Believers beyond anything he ever saw or felt before.
21 Sept. Indian returns tohis home in Indian Territory.
13 Oct. A man from Cohoes to try and get our folks to take his children--he \ very poor
and needs a home. Our folks have agreed.
17 Oct. Charles brought George Freeman and his family from Cohoes today--7 children-
Adella, Ella, Lillie, Edgar, Foster and Eva the baby. The oldest boy has not
come yet.
25 Oct. A man and woman here to see the Freeman family. The oldest boy, Homer, is
working for them.
31 Oct. Some folks tosee the Freeman family. Want to get one of the girls to go home
'with them--the girls decline to do so.
Sun., Nov. 1 "Homer Freeman came to his father, brothers and sisters. He has been told some
hard stories about Shakers and is unwilling to Stay, would not even stay for
dinner,"
4 Nov. Charles H. Wager, aged 14, left today. "A very bad depraved child."
10 Nov. George Freeman leaves today for 2-3 weeks on business or to settle his affairs.
20 Nov. A young woman named Ella Ryan came "to seek the privilege to be a Shaker."
Has been living with Society at Groveland the past three months but left because
her father doesn't wish her to be a Shaker.
8 Dec. George Freeman returned--in good health, glad to see his children.
27 Dec. Homer Freeman to see his brothers and sisters.

7 Feb. Receive news of great fire at Church Family, Mt. Lebanon. Already destroyed
8 buildings ($40,000), threatens to destoy whole village.
9 Feb. Two elders and two brothers go to Lebanon to see ifreport is true and to help.
16 Feb. Ask for clothes for Mt. Lebanon.
22 Feb. Isaac went to Mt, Lebanon with "butter, applesauce, etc."
2 Mar. Lebanon Herb House destroyed--estimated loss$50,000. Believed incendiary.
One ot their workmen suspected, everyone there worried, fearful of more fire,
5 Apr. The Freemans decide to leave and have got same of our young folks to go with '
them. George, Adella and Homer go to Cohoes to look for a place to live.
6 Apr. Alvira took Eliza Ann away this morning to keep her out of the trouble she is
likely to get in with the Freeman family.
7 Apr. Adella and Homer back this a.m., Almira Teechout made them pack theirthings
and sent off the whole of them. Frederick Wheaton also went.
8 Apr. Minnie Spencer was taken to Albany. Frederick's mother came, distracted to
hear he had gone; took her daughter Mary away. That is 12 that have left this
week--8 Freemans and 4 others they coaxed away.
