27 Aug. Pleasant Hill had fire--9 buildings burnt--large amount of corn and grain
destroyed. Supposed Incendiaries.

Sun., Aug. IV "Albert (Lomas) addressed the audience/as usual crowded/ and not the best of
behavior. '^^
Sun., Sep. 9 "Samuel Golden addressed the audience. A policeman in the alleyway today,
stationed there to prevent noise and disorder."
25 Sept. Charles and Shubel go to Albany to meet boat and a gir! named Maggie Campbell,
15 years old, that our folks have agreed to take.

28 Jan. Anna Clement fell and dislocated her hip.
31 Jan. Dr. Wade here to see Anna Clement, "done up her broken hip."
20 Feb. "Some of our folks go to Albany to attend a seance held by the Eddy Brothers.
Saw a few materialized spirits or at leastthought them spirits. Brothers and
sisters went from allthe families--Elder Augustus, Aaron and Matthew from here,
Eldress Paul ine, Alvira and Hester also. " .*
17 May Charles takes Eldress Pauline, Jane K. and Maggie Campbell to Albany, Maggie
goes back to her friends inNew Jersey.
8 June Samuel Goutd, a young Believer living at South Family, drowned himself last
night. Supposed to be insane.
26 Nov. A woman here named Mabel Felt, wants to have us take her little girl. Send her
to South Family.
27 Nov. Eldress Harriet here to ask our folks to take Mabel Felt's littlegirl.

3 Nov.D Take Frances Felt, 8 years old, today from South Family.
4 Dec. Mabel Felt here from South Family to bring some of her little girl's things.
9 Dec. Mabel Felt came from South Family and took her little girland leaves for
Albany to get work there.

Fri., Apr. 9 Aaron takes Alvira Teachout and Mary Ann Math.ews to the depot. Alvira takes
Mary A. to Green Island to Susan Teachout's. Mary Ann does not want to stay
among Believers and so leaves here to find a home in the world.
Tues., Apr. 13 Isaac takes Mary Ann M's clothes to her.
17 Apr. Mary Ann Mathews here to see Alvira Teachout. Walked from depot.
16 May Rebecca Landers called here with a man named George Quackenbush, claims
to be brother to Mary Ann Mathews, Says her name is not Mathews.
12 June Henry Smith here from Oneonta with Mary A. Mathews. She wishes to return
to her Shaker home. (She was stilI there thru 1881.)

22 Oct. Elder Daniel called here with Elder John Whitely and Elder John Cloutman of
Harvard, Mass. All the families meet at Church Family this evening to attend
