2 Feb. Very cold -12. Alvira C. , Hester C. , Mary Ann M. , and Agnes B. commence
to stay in their shops at night to save fuel .
8 Mar. A couple of women here from Albany with a couple of girls they want us to take .
We take them on trial . Their names/ Helen and Mary Stra ightm /ages 7 and 4 yrs,
14 Mar. Send the two Straightmyer children back to their mother in Albany.
17 Mar. A man and woman here from Schenectady with a couple of children they want us
to take. The children do not wish to stay so they allreturn home - name Pearson.
4 May Take a boy named Frank Miller, age 15 yrs. (
1881 June 1 Take a German by name ot Frederick Frank. He is sick with dropsy.
2 June Isaactakes Alvira Conklin, Deborah Knight, Agnes Baker and Clara Dunn to
Albany. Agnes and Deborah go to get their artificialteeth, come home with
them in.
6 June Take two little colored girls here to live from Albany--names Capitola and
Grace Rogers, ages 9 and 1 1 .
9 June Eldress Pauline goes to Albany this afternoon; takes the littlecolored girls with
her. They want to see their father. Take in a girl named Annie Wolf ,age 13 yrs.
11 June Eldress Pauline returns home. Leaves the colored children in Albany as they
did not want to come back.
13 June Alvira C. and Annie Wollf to Niskayuna to get Annie's clothes.
25 Aug. Frederick Frank died of dropsy, age 24 yrs.
26 Sept. Assemble at Church Family $to attend funeral of late Pres. J, A. Garfield.
His successor, C.A. Arthur and the governors of the states, requested nation
to attend his funeral in theirrespective places of worship.
6 Dec. Eldress Harriet Bullard of South Family moves to the .church to take her place in
the min istry's order with Eldress Ann . Rosetta Hendrickson takes EldressHarriet's
place as Eldress, Ann Case goes to live with her.
11 Dec. Phebe Lane (colored) died at 2d Order last evening. Aged 93 yr. 8 mon, had
been a Shaker for 73 years.
25 Dec. Christmas meeting at Church Family, meeting at home this evening.
26 Dec. Sisters have a little Christmas party ,this evening down at the Sisters'Shop.
