18 Feb. "Eldress Harriet Bullard here... to see if our family would undertake the
burden of the girls' school."

8 March Elder Augustus and some others have quite bad colds.
10 Mar. Elder Augustus has pneumonia or lung fever.
11 Mar. The snow slid offthe T-part of the dwelling house as Lottie Werner happened
to be going by, fell on her and the Sisters had to dig her out. No bones broken
but she was "some lame" and "all badly scared."
Dr. Wade came to see Elder Augustus every other day.

6 April Elder Augustus Blase died, 70 years old.
18 Apr. South Family folks come and borrow a teaching platform and a blackboard to
put in the school room at South Family where the summer school will be held
this year.
23 Apr. Four young sisters from Lower Family Canaan come to Church Family to live.
The Family at Canaan where they have lived is going to be broken up as they
haven't sufficient means to carry on.
27 Apr. Ministry appoint Brother Isaac Anstatt as Elder to fillElder Augustus' place.
29 Apr. Eldress Alvira goes to Church Family to see Eldress Ann about helping her make
some caps for the colored sisters in Philadelphia.

29 May Bring from Albany a "tapestry Brussels carpet forEldress' room."
30 May Frost lastnight destroyed corn, tomatoes and potatoes.
Decoration Day. The young sisters are taken to Albany to see the soldiers
parade and the Barnum's Circus parade through the streets. "Young folks come
home well satisfied with their ride."

9 July Mason here repairing the wash house, from which everything has been removed --
the mills/ press & everything.
21 July Mon. We don't wash as the mason isn'tfinished.
28 July Mon. Do the fortnight washing. As wash house isn't finished, do it on the veranda
and at north kitchen door; heat water in kitchen and get on nicely. "All seemed
to enjoy our new mode of washing; spread most of the clothes out to dry and
In dooryard."

13 Aug. New wash mill made at Canterbury, N.H. arrived.
14 Aug. Can 28 doz. string beans and do fortnight washing.
17 Aug. Sarah Neal and Josie Hewitt come to have Elder Isaac extract some teeth for them,
19 Aug. String beans all day. 100 in shade.
