14 May Take out the other creamer, clean itwith potash insteadof soda and finish the
job in afternoon. Elder Josiah Barker comes from Church Family to help Agnes
paper her room at northwest shop.
18 May We do some more tables and bureaus with potash, preparatory to painting
or oil ing them.
29 May About noon, two men arrive claiming to be father and uncle of Florence Babcock.
Rachel went to schoolhouse and got her and they took her to Lansingburg,
Eldress Alvira and Rachel go to Niskayuna and take the train to Troy to inform
Florence's mother*

9 June Dr. Lothridge to see Jessie Small. "She is quite out of health." Then comes
every other day until June 28 when he comes every day.
2 July Jessie is moved into "sick room."
9 July Have another doctor from Albany who examines Jessie "quite thoroughly and
pronounces her disease consumption." Dr. Lothridge continues to visit her
every day.
25 July Jessie's brother and cousin come from Philadelphia to see her.
2 Aug. Sat. Eldress Alvira and Rachel sit up "to watch with Jessie" and do not go to meeting
next day.
4 Aug. Elder Isaac comes from Office and "stayed in his home at dwelling house so as
to be near to help, Ifnecessary," Rachel watched with Jessie.
7 Aug. "Jessie still
breathing and seemingly In distress."
9 Aug. Bessie Small died in afternoon, aged 15 years, 11 moh. 2 days.
Elder Isaac went to Albany after supper to telegraph her uncle.

5 Sept. An officer came to arrest Frank Genoa on complaint of his brother-in-law,
Adam Schairer. Frank goes with officer, Adam goes soon after and takes Oscar
Soffter as witness that Frank struck him, "The parties are all our hired men."
8 Sept. Frank Genoa goes to West Troy, "Adam does not appear against him as they
agreed this morning to let the matter drop."
26 Sept. "Very warm. Put up 77 doz . cans tomatoes today. Two of the Lansings here,
one Julian Lansing is from Cairo, Egypt. They have dinner here. Also Mr.
Irving, a photographer from Troy, out here to take some views of our place.
We have had an unusually busy week. Put up about 700 doz. cans tomatoes
and dried considerable many bushels corn. Everybody pretty well used up. "
27 Sept. Sun Go to meeting house. "No singing meeting as we want to rest."

19 Nov. i/ElderJosiah Barker came to tell ofEldress Caty Ferguson's death. She had
gone to Niskayuna after dinner and taken train to Cohoes where she went to
Harmony Mills to see about selling them some brooms. Then she went to see a
friend, Annie Smith, got as far as their frontgate and dropped dead of "heart
disease." 55 years old.
21 Nov. "The men at work on the East Hill, scraping and lowering the hill."
26 Nov. Elder Isaac shipping corn to Philadelphia and New York the past two days.
