15 June Elder Isaac brings a new lawn mower he bought forsisters'use.
13 July Elder Isaac and men busy haying and drawing lumber for North Family bam.
21 July Eldress Polly Lee and several sisters fromNorth Family come to help string beans,
24 July Elder Isaac gets quinsy sore throat.
25 July Dr. Lothrtdge to see Elder Isaac. Also on 27th and 29th of July,
31 July Elder Isaac goes to Albany with butter, comes home feeling much worse.
1 Aug. Elder Isaac's throat worse. Send for Dr. Lothridge. Towards night "his throat
gathered and broke and after that he felt much better."
2 Aug. Women picking beans. Nancy Genoa, one of the hired women, had "a stroke
of apoplexy" while picking beans. Dr. Skillicorn of Albany happened to be
passing, took Nancy to her home and treated her.
North Family continues to help with canning beans and later with canning
tomatoes, and continues every second Monday to come and do their laundry at
West Family.
30 Aug. West Family all go over to North Family to have a picnic m the new barn.
31 Aug. Maud Van Denberg, 16 years old, leaves. Elder Isaac, Eldress Alvira and
Rachel take her to Albany, she is going to her aunt's in Saratoga.
11 Sept. North Family came to do laundry. Jennie Wells hurt her hand in the wringer
"playing with Mary Ross."
24 Sept. Sun. Go to North Family for meeting in a.m. and singing meeting in p.m.
1 Oct. Sun Both morning and afternoon meetings held at West Familyji.
3 Oct. Picking barberries and quinces.
7 Oct. Rachel and children go out to gather chestnuts.
8 Oct. Both meetings held at North Family,
9 Oct. Sister Annie Case came "toborrow old clothes for Canterbury to have a dress
parade." Cat bites Rachel's hand.
13 Oct. Hard rain and windstorm at night. Cows got out into dooryard about midnight.
Eider Isaac and men got up and gow cows back in, but got very wet. "We were
up most of the night."
19 Oct. Sister Annie here to see Eldress Alvira about the antique clothes for Canterbury.
25 Oct. William and Willie Ebinger come from Philadelphia and ask to be taken back.
30 Oct. Eldress Alvira and Alice clean the shoe shop and room above for William and
Willie. William whiteashes both rooms.
5 Nov. Sun "General opening today."
6 Nov. Boys' school opens, Elder Josiah Barker teacher.
14 Nov. John Dahrn and William Boothe, hired men, take oid paper off walls in
dining room.
16 Nov. John goes to Albany to get new paper, Grace Dahm here to visit.
17 Nov.-18 Paper dining room.
; Nov. 20 North Family does not come to do washing; will start tomorrow to do washing
in their new wash house.
2 Dec. Dr. Lothridge has been coming a couple times a week to treat Rachel's hand that
cat bit. Today Dr. Lothridge's daughter brought medicine for Rachel and tells
them that the Doctor was thrown out of his cutter last night and broke his right
wr ist.
