ChF saw and grist mill burned (caught from sparks from
engine near roof), nothing saved to speak of, about $10,000

21 Mar 1886 "Meeting at home in our meeting room|for the last time.
We have had a good many good meetings here, but we had to
bid adieu. Rachel McDonald pitched the last song.

23 Jun 1886 Take away stone steps in front of the dwelling house and
dig away the ground to make room to put 3 windows in
front to lighten up the new dining room, also to make
room for foundation of front piazza.
19 Sep 1886 Have our first meeting in our nev^neeting house at home.
Our number is small but the feeling is strong. It is just
six months since we had a meeting in the old one. We
sung four hymns. Harmony of Angels reigfts in the forenoon.
16 Oct We have a jury meet at our office to change the road CWi ****)
goes back of our gravel hill to Niskayuna. The residents
want it changed farther west, thus running only a few rods
from their houses, also making it a better and more direct
road to Niskayfiuna. It is to start near Hall Old Place,
runs N by Cross and our W. Farm fronJH. Lansing to Denison's
farm, from there to the Troy & Schdy Turnpike. It is
agreed to be necessary and the best road.
2 Dec. 1886 t/Josiah Barker moved from the 2d Order to the ChF, to be
second elder with Chas. Brackett first. Josiah now to be
postmaster in place of Chauncey.Miller.

29 Dec "This has been a busy year for us. The taking down and
building up the T part of the dwelling house kept us very
busy and also the sisters had a hard time of it as the
house was topsy-turvy all summer. They had to do the best
they could, but they did well. The men that worked at the
house - carpenters, masons and painters, were all fed at
the house. Only the farmhands boarded at the office. All
are glad to once more get the house in order.
