funeral.

John Decker died about 5:15 pm - age 72-11-11.
The ChF saw and grist mill burned (caught from sparks from the engine
near the roof - nothing^ to speak of saved)
About $10,000 loss - so one calamity follows another. High wind

]# MAR Draw wood. ^Br. John Decker's funeral at 2:30 pm. Many neighbors
attend. This is the last of the aged burden bearers.
25 21 Mar Meeting at home in our meeting room for the last time. We have had
a good many good meetings here, but we had to bid adieu. Rachel
McDonald pitched the last song.
22 Mar Saw wood. Five men commence today to take down the T part of the
dwelling house, brothers eat in the cookroom, sisters in the bake
room and the masons & carpenters in the dairy part. We are truly
upside down. Windy.
26 1 Apr Men finished taking down the T part, we commence to dig cellar.
Rachel and Clary to Albany to get a set of teeth for Clay Drum.
2 Apr Continue digging cellar with scrapers and fill in where the old girls1
shop stood. Snowed a little during the night.
28 6 May Finished planting potatoes. Alvira, Hester & Agnes to Troy with
rags. Reign of terror in Chicago by Socialists.
31 10 June Take Rachel, Nancy & Clary t^o Albany to get teeth. Two men come
to make mortar to plaster the house.
11 June Draw sand from Newtonville to make plaster & mortar - ours too fine.
