<b>14  May</b>         This  afternoon     Elder   Isaac,   Eldress   Alvira   & Rachel    go   to

                                    Albany   about   3  pm  where   they  will   take  the   boat  for  NYC    to   see

                                    a  man living    there   by  the  name   of  Francis   A.  Gerlach, who
<br>
                                    has  been   writing   to  them   & wants    to join   the  community.      He
<br>
                                    is  a  music  teacher.      Eldress   Alvira   will   take  the   10 o'clock
<br>
                                    train   tomorrow    to  Phil.a,  to  see  the  colored    sisters   there*
<br>

<b>22  May</b>         Agnes   and  the   girls   clean  & whitewash     the  water   closet.

<b>19  June</b>        We learn    that   the/Farmer's   League   of   this  town   has  succeeded

                                    in  getting    the  Legislature     to  divide   the  Town   of  Watervliet.
<br>
                                    The  new town    to  be  called   Colonie.

              51    1 July          Elder   Isaac   takes   Francis   Gerlach    to  Albany   to  take   boat  to

                                    NYC  and   he will   return   with   his  wife   for  a  visit .   "He will

                                    come   to  stay  and  try   to  make  a  Shaker   brother."

<b>5  Aug</b>         *'Sister   Caroline    Downs   died  ChF.   "Her  mother    brought   her   among

                                     the  Shakers when     she  was one    year  old."    Died   aged   92.

                                    Ann  Eliza   Gerlach    does  not   want  to  be  a  Shaker   and  goes   back
<br>
                                    to  her   parents   on  Long  Island.     Isaac   takes   her  to  Albany.
