Sylvester (Prentice) with them. JH and DS go to Waterford for
broom corn .
11 Jan B. Downs died at 2d Family.
25 Jan Morrell and Chauncey come home.
7 Feb Gammons taken out of brine.
24 Mar Eunice puts the yard "a soak."
25 Mar Finish the tow spinning.
28 Mar "The sisters in general to carding & hetcheling. We have above
300 weight to hetchel. The sisters card today 42 I bs . "
(Men are "going to the mountains" for stone to lay walks, work
is slowly going forward on Sisters1 Stone Shop.)
29 Mar 45 1 bs . of tow carded today
30 Mar We finish hetcheling & the sisters have carded 48 Ibs.
31 The sisters card 54 I b s . of tow.
I Apr The tow is finished, ail that we have carded is 189 Ibs.
4 Apr Eunice is boiling out the linen & tow yarn.
II Apr Two boys come here to live - Hiram & Lewis Spencer.
1 May Ruth J. leaves office, goes to live in SE room in 2d House with
AB and BH. Clarissa takes her place in Office.
8 May Wm . Y. leaves Office and Jesse takes his place.
15 May Brethren painting Meeting House.
1 June A blue dye is set up for South Family.
15 June The wool is laid down in butternut dye.
1 July Eunice goes to South Family to set up their blue dye.
15 July-Finish coloring butternut.
2 Aug. Young woman, Mary Frances Adams, from Troy brings a child.
5 Aug Elizabeth Price and her daughter come.
12 Aug I made rush carpets for my kitchen.
18 Aug Polly, Moriah & I go w h o r t I eberry i ng .
22 Aug AB, CV, BH, AM and I go after lobelia. Get almost 300 Ibs.
30 Aug Edwards from NYC for 6 doz . bonnets.
3 Sept "We take a thief on the Sabbath." *
8 Sept "Elder Brother attends court ... about Joe Chapel."
18 Sept Stanton goes to Dump to work on broomcorn.
22 Sept Some sisters gather I iverwort.
Oct. Generally gathering winter apples, digging potatoes. Cutting
apples (for drying & cider).
2 Oct Stanton goes to Durup as usual .
6 Oct Brethren finish broomcorn to Durup and to the river.
14 Oct Jennet Angus takes job as physician.
21 Oct Fred comes out as E l d e r ;STanton goes in.
4 Nov Governor visits.
Nov. Generally making cider, boiling cider and coloring.
15 Nov Fred fixing NW room in Brick Shop to make pipes in.
17 Nov "I am trying to make a few baskets to sell."
30 Nov JH is building a pipe kiln.
12 Dec "Elder Brother & Stanton, Elder Sister & Polly goes to the
South Fami ly to attend tothe visions."
15 Dec "MB, LP, AA, LFu, AM and I goes to the Second Family (WF) to
see the visions."
19 Dec Eunice and I begin to cut some caps.
29 Dec We finish the caps - 2 fine ones apiece for the sisters.
