14 Dec Stanton and his men got the logs in the big ditch by working after dark or
by moonlight.
16 Dec 2d Family has a case of smallpox - 3 months old child.
19 Dec The child died and is buried today in our burying ground.
20 Dec Man and woman came after some stockings the sisters have been knitting
for them.
Electa Talmage died at SF.
21 Dec Water works finished.
28 Dec Child, Annie Lake, quite sick from her vaccination - arm very much swollen.

2 Jan Geo. DeWitt and son here to visit his children.
6 Jan "Laura DeWitt concluded to big, and .live with her parents in Albany and
Benjamin, her brother, on hearing his sister was going, concluded to go
also and Daniel delivered them to their parents."
7 Jan Large order of roots and herbs are taken to Albany to go by railroad to NYC
and then be shipped to England.
8 Jan When D. Sherman came borne, he left his team to open the barn doors and, it
being dark in the barn, he fell on some barrels and knocked out one tooth
and loosened several others .
9 Jan G. Copley, Ann B. & Moriah Treadway go to Albany to see about obtaining some
treasury notes.
10 JAN Annie Lake is taken to SF to see her mother.
12 Jan Meeting in a.m. attended as usual. In Afternoon meeting, Sister Ann called
for a song to be sung in remembrance of Brother Chauncy Miller who has gone
on a long journey in the western country."
21 JAN Three Army officers came in afternoon and wanted to look around and Sylvester
Prentiss escortdd them. One was a Capt. Watts who had served in Mexican War
and is now stationed on Potomac River.
24 Jan Asa Seatohu"is released from doing business" by the Ministry.

4 Feb Sarah Taylor and Julia Conway come here"to roll palmleaf sheets for bonnets."
5 F&b "A stranger came here from NY witaph four little children, the oldest about 7

22 May Went to get journey wagon which had been in West Troyr,being repaired. "It

4 June Justice Harwood went to Dr. Wade!s to have blood drawn, had a fit so that he
was unable to walk; Alexander Youngs came to borrow a covered carriage to go
and bring him home.
5 June Visitors from North Family at Mtv, Lebanon are: John Greaves, age 31;
Clark Hayden, 47; Phebe Van Houten, 44; Margaret Pattison, 28; Rachel
Webb, 37; and Ehoda Of ford, 22.
Alfi^mra Treadway "falles in the kitchen and Lucy Fairchild takes her place
to cook for company."
9 June C. Miller starts for NY and takes Theodore Wicks with hirnto visit his
parents. It is uncertain whether he returns or not. '
Group goes to Albany to see a mangle to press clothing.
A poor Italian woman and two children stay overnight.
13 June "This morning the beggars came to the back door by the couple for breakfast."
18 June "A stranger came here wet and hungry and wished to stay over night. His
appeearance denoted that he had seen better days. He appeared in trouble."

9 July Broommakers have gone out to hoe ( potatoes).
10 July A doctor came from Albany to get mandrake extract.

11 July Those who went east on a visit return "in good trim, right end up."
12 July "The sisters that went on the journey are paying the fiddler today. They are
coming down to tailor, after having so many good things given them and made

15 July Daniel went to Niskayuna depot to pick up a man named Edwin Collins "to set
up the business of canning green peas for winter use."
"A woman came for information; she stayed all night. We thought she was not
prepared to be a Shaker and informed her so and she went her way."
17 July Sisters all begin shelling peas and getting a beginning made towards putting
them up.
18 July "A strange lady came here and said she wanted to stay here a few days so
She appears quite singular. Her name is Hannah
Langdon."
19 July "Iheowoman ;that came last night is a Jew. She is keeping the Sabbathaand
Sat is fasting and reading the Bible. She has not been out of her room today."
20 July "Another woman came here who wishes information about our religion. She

16 Aug Woman named Clute drowned in Mohawk labile batheing.
18 Aug In a.m. a man and two women came. Said they were from Long Island. This
afternoon about 4 p.m. another man came "in pursuit of them. He did not
state the cause of his coming."
3 Sept Collins comes to run canner to put up succotash.
4 Sept Having trouble with succotash - cans bursting and leaking./
"A good many people are around today to see the Shakers.

2 Oct Collins canning corn and beans and continues with corn & tomatoes.
9 Oct Man named Geo. Engles came from North Union through fear of being drafted
in the Army.
13 Oct G. Copley takes him to Mt. Lebanon.
15 Oct. Collins leaves.
18 Oct Finished getting apples from Niskayuna farm - have 30 barrels, 24 suitable
to be in cellar ffor winter use.
23 Oct Man named Payne came to get some provisions for Army - Washington to aid in
providing for the sick and wounded.
24 Oct Dr. E|noxen (Noxon) came to see C.M. about war taxes enforced on things made
for sale by the Society.
25 Oct Three teams go to Albany with 30 barrels of provisions for the Army from
the ChF.
1 Nov Edwin Collins, the canner, came to tell them he had moved 'with his family
from NYC to Morrisville.
3 Nov Boys school started. AlbertI Lomas and Isaac Anstatt teachers.
12 Nov Collins comes to make apple butter.
17Nov Daniel is still drawing home roots and vegetables from out farms.
Sisters cut apples for drying most days.
23 Nov "This day is set apart for a yearly sacrifice. We had a meeting at 4:30 am
Sun. Then attended to the duties of the^day."
26 Nov DAB, Geo. Price, Elder Sister & Adel^de went to Troy and got a sewing
machine for $55 for the tailors shop.
8 Dec C.M. boxed up canned vegetables in extract house and moved them into the
cellars to keep them from freezing.
9 Dec Daniel and John Decker went for sumac bobs.
10 Dec Proprietor of the reform school in Providence brought four boys to Albert
Lomas.
22 Dec Ann B. takes some table stands to Wm. Smith's store for him to sell for her.
24 Dec. An Englishman and his wife and son came and looked around. They have lost
half their property because of the war with the South.
