30 "Beloved brother John Scott died, having been sick about one week."

1 Jan Put 700 Ibs. corn husks in bags for sale.

4 "Our good sister Tabitha fell in a fit of palsy this a.m. before
breakfast and -put her hip out of joint and it is not expected
she wi II ever recover."

9 CV put up 19 doz. corn brushes for the -western journey.

13 Elders, deacons and business brethren from the fami Iies meet
and divide each family's portion of timber for the new Meeting
House and decided to roof it with tin.

16 Yearly accounting: 1st Order 47 men, 38 females; 2d Order

18 SB went to Yearsleys to pay the great tax - $185.57.

20 Two brethren start to meet CC and FSW at Watertown with 80 doz.
brooms, seeds, brushes, etc.

13 (Sun) Man and two women coming from Schaghticoke for meeting had an
accident when their horse was frightened and broke their wagon,
so brethren loan them a wagon while theirs is repaired.

14 Geo. Bigelow taken to Albany relatives.

16 17 brethren worked on road today. BT hurt very badly by falling
on a scraper.

14 Aug Benj.Butler has been working on their carding machine since
10th and is expected to come back on 16th. Eunice returns from
Island where she has been working for 4 weeks.

19 Aug 16 brethren & sisters went to camp meeting in p.m.., "were much
pleased with the meeting." Finished haying on Island - 20
loads of hay., 25 of oats.
20 Stanton,Catharine & Maria went to Island for bull rushes for
making ca rpets.
BSYoungs & Calvin Wells attended camp meeting.
21 Aug Harv'ested 140 loads of hay, 10 of oats at River Farm.

23 "A poor IittIe orphan boy by the name of James Carrol I came &
begged to be taken. By the intercession of Fred Wicker he was
taken on trial." Almira & little girls went after princess pine.

25 Company- of sisters went after pennyroyal.

27 (Fri)A visitor bought "a sage cheese."
Aurelia White closed school; cleaned up and finished on Sat.

4Sept CC took a sick man that came here to the poor master.
Dunfords moved from River Farm to Island.

7 "Reece's boys came with their mother this morning to make a
confession concerning the mischief done on the Island etc."

9 11 visitors in all for dinner.

10 Brought Woodruff from Albany "to show our folks about laying
the eellar bottom in the new part" (of the dwelI ing house).

13 LA made nectarine and peach sauce.

15 Draw lime for the cellar and salt for the compost.
"A foot pedlar came, we bought some few things and by mistake
Moriah Gillet's spectacles got in his trunk; he came back
nearly 2 miles to bring them; had it not been for his honesty
we never should have known what became of them."

16 "Joshua B. Stone came hoping to find a back order where he
could have another privilege; he seems to feel quite bad, wanted
the brethren & sisters should forgive him if he had hurt their
feelings. We gave him dinner etc."

17 "Widow Van Rensselaer bought $5 worth."

20 Ford fromAlbany with his wife & friends, 5 in all, & 5 from
Schenecfady - all had dinner.

21 Finished harvesting broom corn - only 50 loads this year.

22 "This is the day to clean up etc. We commenced our charge at
7, we got thru at 9. No company of account. We retired to
rest at 8 p.m."

14 "Clarissa Finch came after her daughter Maria who was bound to
C. Vedder. She did not see fit to give her up; therefore the
mother went away somewhat in a pet."

24 This is a day of fasting and prayer, a yearly sacrifice is
called for. We rise at 4, meeting at 5, breakfast at 6:30.

26 CC and Cp go to Island. "Water so high, very dangerous crossing."
27 Ruth Green and Aurelia White change families.

2 Nov Lucy HOrton and girl and 2 coI/ored Rebeccas (Jackson & Perot )
came avisiting, have dinner.
3 A large company of brethren go after moss (for insulation in
new part of dwelling). SisterAsenath & Elder Sister carry
their dinner to them.
4 Governor Young, his wife and 2 others come for dinner.
6 Finish harvesting on Island - 325 bu. shell corn on River Farm
702^ bu. shell corn on Island = 1,007 \l of which
was husked by sisters and German woman & her family with very
little exception. Move Dunfords to River Farm.
5 All the corn home from the river and farm, harvesting corn on
Island, sisters have husking bee this evening until 10 pm;
had one last night also though not so late.
9 Finish husking and settle with German family to their satis-
faction.
11 CV finished 20 doz. cup mops for HIbbards.
Calvin Green came about "Milennial Church" to be reprinted.
12 Go to plant dock at River.
21 (Sun) "Calvin Green and the 2 brethren from Hancock attended pub
meeting and without doubt Brother Calvin gave them a sermon."

6 Dec Jane Dunford moved to her home.

17 FSW went to Albany to get a proof for Calvin Green.

19 (Sun) "Calvin Green attended the families' meeting; gave them a
short sermon. In the p.m. he spoke quite lengthy to the
whole church . "

21 Ki I led 22 hogs, avg. 41 5 Ibs.

22 NF took 2 little Simmons girls to the poor master.

24 "We had the gift to wash each other's feet, being the night
before Christmas."

25 "This is the day we keep in remembrance of the birth of our
Sun. Saviour. We had a very good & satisfactory meeting. We re-
ceived some particular notice, a seal etc. Calvin Green had
a gift to speak upon worldly knowledge - the difference between
our Lord & Saviour and the wisdom of Solomon, etc. General
Humphrey and Crosby came and had dinner. We had meeting at the
usual time and a good one it was."

29 "NF deaconesses came to make their yearly visit."

new part, have an excellent time, many new things."

7 Calvin Green taken back to Lebanon.

11 Catherine &'Clarissa filled emery balls. Gave the family 4
doz. knives and forks.

18 Delia Smith made up her mind to leave so she was taken to
Schenectady and put on train to go to her friend in Rochester.

22 Ground entirely bare, CM went to look for elecampane.

23 "No public meeting on account of smallpox." (In world, not

27 "Plenty of beggars today."

28 Shipped 6 doz. brooms to Utica for York Mi I Is.

1 Feb FSW went to Albany to see about the Shaker bill. A Mr. Rose
has brought our bill in question again.

4 Henry DeWitt came from Lebanon for broom handles.

7 Geo. & Abiah Peavy bound their son, George, to Stanton B.;
also EM Norton's father bound h i m .
